Wish i’d thought of this. Obvious in retrospect.

Instead of using sunlight to generate electricity or heat, the town of Rjukan in Norway uses solar powered sun-tracking mirrors to bring sunlight into the the heart of the town, that would otherwise be in shadow for five months of the year.

They were in use at White Cliffs a long time ago. Solar powered mirrors that is.
