Subject: UN report on global warming warns of "climate apartheid" between rich and poor

Nobody really escapes, it all filters down, or in this case filters up.

“Perversely, while people in poverty are responsible for just a fraction of global emissions, they will bear the brunt of climate change, and have the least capacity to protect themselves,” Alston said. “We risk a ‘climate apartheid’ scenario where the wealthy pay to escape overheating, hunger, and conflict while the rest of the world is left to suffer.”

Equally important as the issues of food security, housing and water, the report says, is the threat to democracy and the rule of law. It says the anticipated mass migrations of people forced to either starve or move will “pose immense and unprecedented challenges to governance” and likely stimulate “nationalist, xenophobic, racist and other responses.”

Yes, the poor have the most to lose from climate change, but they also have the most to gain from climate change.

More rainfall.
Less frost damage to crops.
Fewer blizzards
Faster growth of forests.
Greater ocean productivity.
More wild animals.
More farmland in cold climates.

Yes, I have certification of that. In fact I had myself tested for sanity just 2 years ago.

Which aspect of climate change do you deny?

It does depend upon your standpoint of view.

• In my case, Less rainfall is a bigger problem.
• More unpredictability of frost or rainfall.
• Never really had blizzards butnit is probably more likely than ever, now.
• Well and good, if only of jellyfish.
• Ferals. which only have themselves to eat.
• Mangoes from Greenland?

The worst negative consequences of climate change are:

  • Flooding of coral islands. (bad for people but good for corals)
  • Flooding of river deltas. (until the river re-deposits it) Particularly bad for Bangladesh.
  • Need to move back houses from the shoreline. (which is needed anyway because of tsunamis)
  • Extinction of mountain-top species.
  • Northward expansion of the Sahara, Syrian and Gobi deserts.
  • More hurricanes.

I think you actually believe that will be the limit of it, where we can turn up the air-conditioner and everything will turn out right. You have such a narrow and uneducated view of the world.
