I like wearing jumpers inside out, or, maybe I like it not to matter.

sometimes wearing garments wrong way out matters, like operating zips or whatever, othertimes it really doesn’t matter

all the seams are exposed wrong-way-out, sort of makes the trouble of the design, to hide them, pointless really.

consider the power though, like just discovering you’ve got your jumper on inside out after bolting down the street and getting home.

of course there are plenty embarrassing moments re clothing i’m sure, if you don’t know any you’ve probably imagined some and astutely avoided them.

what people wear, how they wear whatever, surely says something of behaviour controls, even if mostly informal.

so, you’re liberated, but won’t wear your jumper inside out in public.

what’s your most intelligent argument against wearing jumpers inside out, and is it the same reason as when you (make sure you) put it on the right way round to go out.

I’m sure the makers of jumpers aren’t trying to control you, and couldn’t care less if you wear them inside out.

But I can’t see any sensible reason to do so.

Seems to sum it up pretty well.

I went out with a fellow that always wore his teeshirts backwards. So the collar sat higher on the neck.

Did he ever try to choke you?

um. no.

I think the back to front tee was a USAF thing.

Must have been a harmless one.

We all rebel against the system in our own particular way, Mr Transition.

You could rebel with even greater gusto and wear your jumpers backwards AND inside out.

My rebellious streak only takes me as far as using my tea towels inside out. I dare not use them upside down. I’m just a little too conformist to take my rebelliousness that far. Yet.

My oldest nephew always wore junpers inside out, became locally famous for it. His parents didn’t mind.

Why wear jumpers the right way out?

Depends on the design. Sometimes the colour looks better on the outside. Sometimes the fleecy lining is on the inside, making it more comfortable. Sometimes the seams catch on objects, get dirtier and wear out faster on the outside. Sometimes it’s just as comfortable both ways so one may as well follow the peer group pressure.

I wear work gloves inside out. The seams are much more comfortable when they are on the outside.

I’ve always been pretty unrebellious with clothing.

Just stick with what was pretty hip 10 years ago.

I did park the car with the front to the kerb the other day.

And I avoid Facebook.

That’s about it.

LOL.

I wish i’d kept a photo of my clothing from 25 years ago, towards the end of my mid-life crisis. So radical i went to a high school reunion and not a single person there recognised me.

Front to the kerb, there is no other way.

Every relative of mine avoids facebook. Even out to fifth cousins.

I have been known to wear jumpers inside out. I know what you mean about gloves, but they hurt the arthritis more inside out because that way they’re tighter.

With my work gloves (rigger’s gloves) they are less tight inside out.

A leather coat would just not work outside in.
