Agree.
I suppose one question would be the opposite. Why are biggest frogs so small? Compared to say biggest bird, biggest lizard, biggest mammal, biggest turtle, biggest tortoise, biggest crocodile, biggest freshwater fish. Compareed to other vertebrates, frogs are small.
> pushing around large rocks to build nests
Like large lizards, crocodiles, humans etc., It makes sense.
> looking into the diet of Goliath tadpoles, in case a captive breeding program
Oh, that’s hugely worthwhile.
> Shortly after nightfall, a large frog appeared, standing guard over its brood until just a few minutes before dawn.
Nice.
I’m not sure i like the the idea of “frog-hunters” though, is this in contravention of CITES or, worse, for bush meat?
Frogs breath through skin which due to squaring is bound to cause a size bottleneck.
