Is there a way of calculating the number of 20 megapixel RAW images I can fit on a 64 gig memory card?

A quick guess – 50 × 64.

(~ 50, 20 Mb files per Gb) (50 × 20 = 1000)

Serious answer:

RAW files use lossless compression. Typically the uncompressed size of a 20 MP image will be 60 MB.

How small the compressed image will be depends on the complexity of the image, to some extent. If it is a simple image with large areas of a similar colour, then the RAW image might be 4 MB. If it is very complex, maybe 10 MB. A rough average might be 6 MB, so you should get about 10000 images on that card.

Excuse me. I misread the unit: megapixel, not megabyte. The answer I produced was therefore completely and utterly incorrect.

Sorry.
