Any advice?
Horror stories?
I have one it hurts. My granny had them. I am not her!
The next toe along seems to be caught up in the drama.

Sounds awful.
Hammertoe is a contracture (bending) deformity of one or both joints of the second, third, fourth or fifth (little) toes. This abnormal bending can put pressure on the toe when wearing shoes, causing problems to develop. Hammertoes usually start out as mild deformities and get progressively worse over time.

No advice. No horror stories. Never heard of them until today. I hope the pain subsides.
I haven’t heard of them either, but looking at the link posted above, I think Mr Speedy may have a mild form of it.
Actually, Speedy Jnr probably has it too as his feet are like his father’s. He has seen a physio already about pain in his toes and feet, but they never mentioned hammer toes. He was given some stretches to do, like rolling his arches on a rod of about 50mm diameter, as well as strengthening by picking up marbles with his toes.

Sounds like some form of arthritis? If so, avoid anything that inflames the joint, like physios.
Wear bigger shoes? Bunion pads? Avoid running? Clip toenails more often? Some people with toe problems cut the toes out of their shoes or wear special shoes with more toe space.

It’s not poor fitting shoes or bunions. When I was writing my last post, I realised thatI should have taken to to a podiatrist at the time instead of a physio. Next time.

Yep. I’ve ignored it for too long, me thinks it’s surgery time.
