1. A lot less now than when I was at Krispy.
2. Sometimes, and only if others are doing it.
3. Nope, I wish people a “good morning” and occasionally post in the Goodnight thread.
4. No.
5. I don’t click every post. There are forumers I engage with more than others.
6. We’re good friends here. I’d miss all of youse. Most of youse.

1. I usually peep in at irregular intervals during day and night. Don’t know how much actual time it would amount to in total. Probably not much because I read very quickly.
2. I often post food reports but often don’t. When I’m dieting the food is usually too basic to mention.
3. I seldom post hello or goodbye.
4. Depends on how much there is and what they’re talking about.
5. Not as a matter of policy but I give some posters more attention than others.
6. The company.

1. How many hours a day do you spend on the forum either posting or lurking?

Usually it is in an open browser. I check in lots.

2. Do you habitually post food reports etc?

Not habitually. I don’t even habitually eat these days.

My diet is increasingly boring and poor.

3. Do you post hello and goodbye?

Rarely. I don’t see the point.

4. Do you read back through all the chat you have missed while away?

Sometimes. Often.

5. Do you ignore any posters?

No. I avoid some subjects.

6. What would you miss most about the forum if it was shut down?

Companionship. Friendship. Also I will post things here that I would not post on Facebook. My Facebook friend’s list has many who are not that close.

Also there is a security in knowing that some of you people are problem solvers. I am much better at solving other people’s problems than my own. But many of you fill in areas I have no expertise. There is comfort in that.

1. hardly lurk, time i’m here can vary, most of my time on the computer is probably (related) working with images
2. occasional food report, I do most of my images in the kitchen ^, where I eat and coffee
3. mostly goodbye, I find gadgets like computers and internet hooky, but keep it only part of social life, i’m more an outdoor beast
4. quick scan back, not much really, just to get a feel of the mood really
5. not ignore, more respectable space, i’m more into divergence than convergence
6. if the entire (content of the) forum was erased then started again, that’d be welcome by me, but more to your point of if you all vanished, well, I have some neurons configured, all you diverged creatures inhabit some

Usually not far away and check new posts on threads of interest.

2. Do you habitually post food reports etc?

No.

3. Do you post hello and goodbye?

No.

4. Do you read back through all the chat you have missed while away?

Rarely and only if the subject matter is of interest. There used to be lots of little gems in the posts, but these days they are few and far apart and IMO not worth reading lots of chat posts to find them.

5. Do you ignore any posters?

Yes.

6. What would you miss most about the forum if it was shut down?

Only threads of interest, which I try to reciprocate. In others words, information, new ideas and education.

1)

1.2 hr, in 4 minute bursts

2)

Not habitually. I estimate that once a month I’ll mention what I’m cooking or eating, on occasions when I think it is unusual enough to be worth noting.

3)

No.
Actually I consider that poor foruming.

4)

No.

5)

Barring actual spammers, there’s no one I totally ignore. There are certainly people I ignore sometimes, ie if they are on a rant.

6)
I have mates here who I only contact here, so I’d miss them unless we teed something else up.

=======

1. I tend to forum in mini-breaks. A few minutes at a time here and there throughout the day. Most evenings I have the laptop on so I tend to look in more frequently then.

2. no

3. Not usually hello. Sometimes post in the goodnight thread if I am leaving mid-way through a conversation.

4. No. Obviously not.

5. Not really. Only certain threads, like the music threads.

6. The humour and witty banter. Also the chat thread is my news feed for unusual news stories I would otherwise never see.

1. Depends on how good the threads are and how depressed i am. Less time now that i’ve found a compulsive computer game. A good thread that causes me to research in depth can keep me busy for three hours.

2. Never.

3. Extremely seldom.

4. Only on days when i’m feeling very depressed, otherwise i might back track about 20%. Today i haven’t read any chat at all so far.

5. Never.

6. The social interaction (you people are my best friends), the science discussion (i love to learn), the mental challenge, the humour. And, just lately, the ability to say crazy things. Also, when i need help on a handyman problem.

7. What I would least miss – the politics, food, sport, chit chat.

Me too! I am a voyeur and that is my main reason for reading back all the chat I miss while away; I don’t want to miss the latest forum gossip.

On the other hand I myself am very much a private person so don’t volunteer much personal info unless prompted. Why Buffy posts minutiae on an almost regimented basis is beyond me I’m afraid.

If you want the real ephemera, the emails are presently, like right this minute, flying between Melbourne, Houston, Hobart and here about what to put on the headstone. It can’t be matched to Karen because no-one does lead lettering any more and the marble is getting soft. There is a lot of stuff my brothers are learning. I’m just going along
