is it just the old leaves that are yellowing, or the new leaves, or all of them? Are the leaf veins still green with yellow in between?

More data is often required .. ie; like are you positive that both Gardenia’s are getting the same water supply?
are both bushes in the same soil and in the same light?
If you think it is a deficiency:
I’d try first of all using something like Epsom Salts(magnesium sulphate) mixed in a watering can and watered in around the roots,. If that doesn’t help then try iron sulphate or zinc sulphate.

I have 4 gardenias. One is showing far too many yellow leaves. 2 have a bit over the acceptable amount of yellow leaves and one has none at all. In my case 3 are more exposed than no4 and would be lacking water because of the dry weather. No4 is sheltered from excess sun by other growth and although it must be very dry too it’s not showing the signs as much as the others.
I bet yours are suffering from the dry too KM.
