Simon is a bit out there, but he does have some interesting stuff on his YT channel.

I knew about twenty years ago that the Russians and anti-radar plasma technology for their aircraft, this video is the first recent one I’ve seen on it. The big downside of having a plasma coating on parts or all of your airframe is that it sticks out like a sore thumb on infra-red detection gear.

Plasma stuff

And thought I think it’s still probably quite theoretical right now, this is a very interesting way of detecting stealth aircraft.

Quantum radar

And a couple on the Big Bang theory.
No it’s not
Yes it is

I just thought it might be of interest to some.
I’ve also been looking at the Aussie JORN gear on Wikipedia. Also very interesting indeed, as it’ll also pick up stealth aircraft and much more as well, and much further away.

I did the commissioning of the major UPS power systems for the Jindalee experimental station about 50 km north of Alice. That was back in ’88 or thereabouts.

People still talk about Jindalee OTH radar as if it is something new. Wasn’t it developed prior to 1947? Or am I missing something?

Early 1960s, I think. My mother used to talk about it when we were children.

You’re missing something. Read the wikipedia article linked above.

Did read the wikipedia article. Didn’t see a date for the original technology.

Not 1947, I got that wrong, that website just happened to have a link to a 1985 Jindalee report. Jindalee as a radar station was aound in 1983 but the “Over the horizon” stuff may be 1985. Which is weird as I’m sure I’d heard about it before that.

Yeah, just a bit :)

Like putting a video on YouTube saying the video will be blocked by youtube.

Does look QI though.
