Nice harvest ahead Lucky :) The beetroot do look good too.

Hey didya hear about my ducks?? Well, strictly speaking not really mine cos they’re wild. They’ve flown off tonight -didn’t fancy another night in the garage!

LOL no I hadn’t… going from your garden photos, I don’t think the shed would be as much fun.

I’d walk over hot caoals for grated raw beetroot on my salads, love the stuff. Also great in a potato bake, as a cool dip with toasted pita bread and cant forget as a colourant in the henna dye.

Last time we made pickled beetroot my MIL helped, she found a bottle of vinegar in the bathroom but didnt check the hand written note. They came out with a strong smell of bleach.

Ooh, haven’t tried that one – will you end up having any colour leaching when your hair is wet if you add beetroot to your henna?

I used to use a pre-mixed henna blend but have now swapped to pure henna – mostly because it washes out so much more easily but it’s also nice not having to worry about what colour towel to grab after a shower.. the pre-mixed one used to leach for a while but the pure henna doesn’t.

It does wash out and you have to make sure your hair is dry before going to bed, but is nice for those special occasions. Coffee has better sticking ability and the colour is easier to make lighter or darker.

Hmm OK. Post-wedding I’m enjoying not having to worry about any special occasions but I’ll keep that in mind! :)

It’s hot here…. poor gardens and animals:( all over SA.

Been out and gave my animals fresh cool water and ice bricks to the bunnies. Wonder if they’d like to come in and watch TV and do some sewing with me???????
