why would that story reference a shooting that does not even fall under the definition the study used?

anyway, one of my lecturers is currently creating a data base similar but for worldwide mass shootings.

The issue is with the definition. Even within the USA, there are different definitions for what determines a Mass Shooting… so any study worth it’s salt is going to also come up with a definition that can be adopted by all agencies.

read that, got to the end and thought about it some, but haven’t been able to determine what was stunning

It seems to me that most of them have the second amendment in common.

article made me wonder what you’d get if some of the force of culture was got from dangerous ignorance of trauma, that the ignorance became instrumental, then the analysis (and commentary, including use of statistics) tended to compartmentalize, or employ compartmentalization to patch over something nasty

not strictly true since some of them used guns from the household, but they weren’t registered to them… I suppose you could say they ‘stole’ them.. if you wanted to keep drawing.
