I remember when I went to the louvre I was struck at how shoddy some of the Veronese works were. They were all large scale. Some were quality throughout. Some had some good bits.
Its what happens when there is a shop of artists. Veronese doing the preparatory sketches. Others doing the cartooning and painting. Working on timetables. Working for a variety of customers.
