I’m trying to get a document ready for tomorrow. The client wanted something cheap and nasty done as they hadn’t budgeted correctly, so I sent them a price for a desktop study without all the trimmings. I’ve already gone over time on what I quoted as there’s been some project creep. An hour ago they sent me a document for another site that they want the document to look like. This is a rolls royce optioned up. I’ve been trying to ring the client to say WTF?

They are going to send all the footage they have of the back foot to the CSIRO Forensic Film Unit (FFU) for analysis.
Could take a couple of weeks but if the evidence is conclusive that no part of the foot was behind the line the batsman will be recalled.

Clearly distorted by the number of Paki cricket fans.
It was an obvious line ball no ball call given that the overhang of the heel of the boot counts as boot. No no ball for mine.

At some level we have to accept that umpires are human and that there are cases that really are on the edge of determinability, and in such cases you can’t be too aggrieved no matter which way it goes.

Looks like the bail was obove the RH groove but still in the LH one. Other bail was undisturbed at that time.
I reckon if they has the LED lights like they do in T20s and ODIs that would have been on the line = out. Without the electronics the TV umpire has to scroll forward a frame or two to when the whole bail is clearly removed from the stumps.

I think it does, when one bail loses electrical contact with the stumps on both ends, then they all light up through a wifi signal. The separation only needs to be a fraction of a mm.

Last year (I think) there was the weird case of a bail being dislodged vertically upwards & falling back into its groove. It was a bowled appeal & was ruled not out.

I am perfectly happy for it to happen. They could add a few milliseconds delay into the circuitry. It makes it easier and quicker for the TV ump, scroll to first frame where lights are on, check where the bat is. None of this toggling it back and forth, then looking for another angle, and another, and then trying to plit screen te views and blah. That review took about 2 minutes to be given not out.

For the batting team that is a very good score. Australia were batting. Pakistan batted first (beginning yesterday) and made 240 all out. Australia have gone well beyond their score with only 1 batter out, from a possible 10.

we support whoever is playing England.
It is an example of unrequited rivalry in sports. For example England see Germany as their biggest rivals in international soccer, but the Germans don’t care to much about England, they see the Netherlands as their key rival and beating them matters more. Australian soccer fans see Japan as big rivals, but the Japanese don’t give a fuck.
