I bought myself a new book.. it is Lombroso’s “Criminal Women, The Prostitute and the Normal Woman”.
Lombroso is considered to be the “Father of Criminology”, he espoused the idea that criminals are born and that they could be identified through their features.
To Lombroso, women were either marryable, fuckable or criminal… which translates to Good looking, ok looking but wouldn’t marry them, or ugly)
He was a bit of a dick… but here are some fun passages that I have prepared earlier..

All seems fairly scientific. As long as it passes peer review I’m OK with it.

He’d be fun at a dinner party. I’d seat him right next to Prince Andrew.

I don’t know if it was scientific or merely an exercise in correlation.

Hairiness. I got a laugh out of that one.
By the way Arts, I finished reading The Nature of Life and Death by the forensic ecologist. It was an easy read, part biography, part interesting details about placing a body in “place” and placing suspects at scenes.

never get away with calling a research group normals these days, you’d have to make up a name using a bigger word.

The internet tells me it was originally called:
La Donna Delinquente: La prostituta e la donna normale (1893)

There is quite a lot of speculation on the angel / whore dichotomy in feminist literature, as you might be aware. They make great sport of it.
