Thanks for getting in touch. He’s currently undergoing surgery in Launceston. He had an enlarged cyst that had become infected so I’m not sure if it’s being just drained or removed- I hope the latter. I’ll keep you posted when I know more. Kind regards, Halyna

I hope he has a bit of a chat with his GP, who (according to Car) didn’t even examine the problem.

As I said in chat, I find it hard to believe that his GP didn’t even take a look at this cyst.

For sure. He could have been embarrassed he hadn’t reported it already. I’ve read about a young man who hid the cricket ball sized growth on his back out of embarrassment for not having it seen to.

He mentioned a week or so ago that “the tumour on his leg” was getting bigger, but wasn’t painful so he’d get it seen to eventually.

Blimey, that sounds like more trouble than just a little cyst.

I hope you get betterer and quicklier Mr Car (when you get around to reading this).

Also, I don’t know why it’s not standard to remove an infected cyst, but drain it instead.

It’s complicated I’m sure. He mentioned that he was embarrassed as he is overweight.

I had a cyst or tumor on my wrist from about age 17. Didn’t get it taken until about ten years ago. It used to nearly knock me out if I bumped it.
I’d had to go in to have a saliva gland removed, blocked by an embedded stone. So had the thing on my wrist off at the same time. I was so relieved without it that I wondered why I hadn’t had it off years before.

You haven’t met my wife then. We did a 6 week tour of Ireland about 20 years ago. Her drink of choice back then was vodka and soda and she really didn’t enjoy the soda water over there, too minerally, apparently. I spent 6 weeks ordering a pint and a half :)

A funny follow up to that. We were back in Melbourne for about a fortnight when Guinness did a brand launch claiming that the stuff brewed in Australia was ‘just like in Ireland’, they having screwed around with the recipe a bit. SWMBO and I were invited to a launch party at an Irish pub. We actually knew the Guinness rep at the time and he approached SWMBO, who had a half pint in hand, and gushed at her “it’s just like it is in Ireland”. SWMBO looked at him deadpan, took a large sip, and replied “not even close”.

He tried to argue but when SWMBO explained that we’d only just got back from drinking it in Ireland for the last 6 weeks he quickly scuttled off to whisper in a more accommodating shell like.

People who have reason to know tell me that the Guinness made in Liverpool is vastly better than the Australian stuff, and that the Irish stuff is better again over the Liverpool product.

It was the arty sister that I was in contact with. I get the feeling the south Hobart sister will probably go up there and take the car home. I just get that feeling.

A nurse will visit me daily to change dressing etc, probably for the next six weeks.

Now going to change my ways and look after myself somewhat betterly after that traumatic experience.
