Labuschagne finishes the day unbeaten on 110 which gives him a current batting average of 60.00.
Oz 4/248 at stumps.
Stumps, Day 1: Aus: 4/248.
An even day’s play I’d call that. Aussies still lots of work to do to get something over 400.

I’m still not sold on D/N test matches to be honest. If you get to bowl with a new pink ball under lights it seems to behave very different to bowling during the day.

Yeah. Who’da thunk it. Apparently you shouldn’t declare your innings closed within 2 days of the scheduled end regardless of the state of play, having to bowl in 40+ temps today or having a good chance of knocking over a few batsmen under lights in the cool.

“Our plan at the start of the day was to bowl them out as quick as we could, because we knew if we didn’t, they were going to declare and have a crack at us under the lights anyway.
“So there is a lot of tactics that come into it, especially around that night session and it’s a lot easier if you have a new ball in your hand when the lights go on.

Apparently in busted arsed countries at the end of a match a representative from Arthur Daley’s Used Cars & Grill presents the man of the match with the keys to a new Rav 4 that he never sees again.

Some of the teams have a rule that all prizes are shared. If there is a car to be won, it sold back to the dealer immediately and the money put into the central pool. For some overseas players it is too hard or expensive to ship a car all the way back from from Australia anyway.

I’m still not completely sold on it. I must admit. It brings in another whole set of tactics that aren’t normally there. I’m still in doubt whether it is just an additional thing to spice up the game a bit, or if it has become the dominant tactic that negates all others.
