During these first days of the third decade of the twenty-first century, as we watch humans, animals, trees, insects, fungi, ecosystems, forests, rivers (and on and on) being killed, we find ourselves without a word to name what is happening. True, in recent years, environmentalists have coined the term ecocide, the killing of ecosystems — but this is something more. This is the killing of everything. Omnicide.

Humans are reasonable at self awareness

but terrible at awareness at the species level, as a species on a global scale, we are dismissive of overpopulation, dismissive of consequences.

Many people lack the ability to stand back and see things from a distance.

on top of that politicians with ego, people who expect things in return, corruption, greed, ownership of ideas secretive attitudes towards information……

what’s the big deal, when we’re left with only 5 extant species then we will look awesome when we do nothing and they diverge into 10, biodiversity doubled on our watch

and with only 5 species we won’t ever be able to “while out 90% of them so all good

Aliens could be watching and waiting for such an event to trigger a culling and all left handers get to survive, a fair criteria as it would include all races, cultures, religion, etc
