Subject: Looking for a new motherboard

Seeking advice from those more knowledgeable….

My home PC has a Gigabyte motherboard, model GA-H97M-D3H. It seems to have died as it won’t boot anymore, so I am seeking a replacement.

I’d prefer to keep all my existing hardware (RAM, CPU, graphics card, etc) and so am seeking one with similar specs.

The only things I really need to change are:

- It is desirable to have a PCIe x1 slot

- It is desirable to have a PCIe x16 slot but it needs to have space around it. I have two PCIe slots: x4 and x16 but the card won’t fit into the x16 slot unless I remove the adjacent PCI card (which is my wireless card)

I’m not a gamer but occasionally like to do some video editing.

Any suggestions?

TIA

I can’t help. I just buy cheap laptops When one fails, I get another.

Have you checked the BIOS battery?

No, I haven’t but it started up this morning fine then suddenly won’t boot. It has done similar before.

I think I changed the BIOS battery about two years ago.

I haven’t looked at new motherboards for awhile but it seems that, without looking too deeply into it, the CPU is outdated and you might have trouble finding a new one that supports it…

i7 CPUs are obsolete? BTW – changed the BIOS battery but no joy.

I searched your model, it said it uses LGA 1150 socket and on a quick search I couldn’t find a one that supported that. But like I said, only did a quick search…

No idea, apart from looking up the motherboard list within http://cdn.msy.com.au/Parts/PARTS.pdf
Then ask for help by ringing up the MSY shop.

AMD Ryzen 3 3200 CPU
X570 AM4 socket motherboard
DDR4 16 gb 3200 ram, two sticks of 8 gb
M.2 SSD 1 tb primary drive

No too expensive and quite fast.

So you’re recommending the most expensive layout?
