just wondering if humans (and other animals) shallow breathe to conserve fluid, reduce dehydration rate
I tend to do it up to a certain level of exertion, reckon I do

Nah, breathing is controlled by blood chemistry.

well yeah, except when it’s not all, I creep around through the scrub plenty, quiet breathing (sounds creepy doesn’t it), you know photographing avians
certainly a tendency to shallow breathe when dust in the air (possibly smoke too), likely learned (refinement of), dust often accompanies dry
I would’ve thought anytime you half intentionally close your mouth and nose breathe, there’s that added mechanism, some override
I notice too speaking is breathing, so seems plenty of control

Shallow breathing helps shooting accuracy, I’ve been told.
As for hydration. Shallow and calm breathing would help.
And divers have to avoid rapid breathing because it uses up oxygen too quickly.
pretty sure dehydration affects blood chemistry
or no i have no chemicals in my blood

I have chemicals in my blood. I’ve just finished adding my latest blood test results to my ongoing summary. It’s not a spreadsheet. And you know what happens when you leave 4 years between testing? Recommended parameters change for some things. And different things get tested. And stuff.
doctor literally just came and took some blood from me
some government thing, apparently they can’t / won’t say what for
maybe those coronaviruspiracy theories are true…

mostly breathing’s unconscious, you know it could be a really long day if you monitored and regulated it every moment
but even the more mediated aspects become unconscious, you can bring it back anytime into greater awareness though, just as you do for the nuances in words breathed
stalking or hiding behavior brings it quite sharply into awareness
larry recognized stalking behavior, if I say sshhh and he gets it from the way I move
anyway back to the subject…
i’m pondering if there is an exertion threshold, in the lower regions involving slower shallower breathing that may help with numerous environment condition. Now, granted, breathing helps with all environmental conditions, maintaining the internal environment
if it’s cold you can conserve heat by breathing shallower, some recirculation, you learn the idea when young, a cold night you put your nose under the quilt, increase recirculation
if it’s hot you might lose heat by breathing but generate it elsewhere by burning energy, so i’m thinking there’s a more relaxed breathing, shallower breathing that conserves moisture
