idiots are not welcome.

But at much ‘better’ prices, too.

Tandy gave you the basics at an affordable price.

Also, you could get some service/help in Tandy, whereas you could starve to death in DSE trying to get some assistance.

Tape the antenna horizontally in a window or exterior wall,
plug it up to your scanner and you are ready to listen.

I talked to the ISS a few years ago; at the time their callsign was RS0ISS, and I only got a few minutes of airtime because they were out of range fairly quickly.

I also talked to the Russians on the Mir station late last century; they invited me to “pop in” if I was passing.

Listening on line
http://www.websdr.org/

A WebSDR is a Software-Defined Radio receiver connected to the internet, allowing many listeners to listen and tune it simultaneously. SDR technology makes it possible that all listeners tune independently, and thus listen to different signals; this is in contrast to the many classical receivers that are already available via the internet.

This WebSDR receiver is located in Sydney, Australia – QF56oh

What the heck? I might already have one. I have a Baofeng-UV-B5, covers frequencies 136-174 MHz and 400-480 MHz.

ISS on 145.8 MHz, so I can. Well, I could if the battery wasn’t flat.

Shhh. Not so loud. There are some good ethnic radio stations, some ham radio and a goods dispatcher operating on those frequencies.
