Headmaster axed to death
Source:
By JAMES APA GUMUNO

THE headmaster of a school in Enga province was axed to death while asleep in his family home on Monday.
Kimbun Nom, headmaster of Tumandan Primary School in Muritaka, Laiagam district, Enga province, was axed to death on Monday by nine armed men from the Makole tribe.
Nom, father of three from Miok clan, was spending his Christmas holidays with his family in his house at Lyamala village near Laiagam station when nine men from Wai clan, armed with bush knives and guns, surrounded his house early in the morning around six and axed him to death in front of his family members.
It is alleged the Wai clansmen attacked and killed Mr Nom after he refused to allow the Wai clansmen to bury one of their men, who died recently on his land.
He had told them to go and bury him elsewhere in a proper cemetery.
This frustrated the Wai clansmen, who broke into his house and chopped him to pieces.
A senior police officer in the province confirmed the killing yesterday afternoon.
The police officer, who asked not to be named, said the deceased and the suspects were from the same Makole tribe but from different clans.
Police said the body of the deceased was taken to the Wabag General Hospital on Monday for postmortem.
Mr Nom’s body was transported back to his village yesterday for burial.
Police appealed to the suspects from the Wai clan to voluntarily surrender to the police.
They urged the clansmen to respect the law and allow justice to take its own course and punished those responsible in the killing.

Local level government president murdered

By JAYNE SAFIHAO

A Local Level Government president from East Sepik Province was killed and his body chopped to pieces last week in a murder that has shocked the whole of Yangoru district.
Reports yesterday said two women were yesterday taken in for questioning by police over the gruesome murder in the Bonahitam village in West Yangoru.
Chairman of the Bonahitam village court, Mr Issac Winuan said the murder was allegedly preplanned and committed and Polcie suspect the women, whom the deceased was suspected of having affairs with at the same time may have some knowledge about the killers.
It is alleged that the deceased, who currently acquired a third wife prior to his death was walking to a neighboring village when he was ambushed and killed on that fateful Thursday.
According to Mr Winuan the way the killing way executed indicate that it was done in ‘revenge over a woman’.
“Seen is a cut to the back of the head, side of the belly which spills out his guts, all fingers are decapitated, his private part chopped off, a knife plunged through his forehead and he must be left dying naked is all symbolic that a woman was involved,” said Mr Winuan.
“Police Task Force came as early as 7am and between 9-10am they were already at the crime scene trying to work out what happened. Relatives of the deceased and the two suspects were also on hand offering helpful suggestions and cooperating with the police,” he said.
Mr Winuan said the deceased was married to two women but the first one died, leaving six of her children with the second wife to look after with her own four.

Plane crash victims all members of a family

The six people who were killed in the plane crash at Boana in Morobe province last week (body bags and wrecked plane pictured) were all members of a family, The National reports.

The dead were a mother, her three children and two grandchildren.

They were on their way home from Port Moresby, via Lae, when they perished in the fatal crash of the light aircraft owned by Kiunga Aviation last Wednesday morning.

Bodies of the dead are still at the morgue at Angau Memorial Hospital awaiting a coroner’s inquest.

The mother is a first cousin of Morobe Governor Luther Wenge.

She was identified as Dambi Kindik, 45; her daughters Julie Agasabu, 20, and Jacinta Naio, 20; son Jerry Kindik, 10; and grandchildren Raymond Zalingan, seven, and Rolina Agasambu, 11 months.

Baby Rolina is the daughter of Julie.

Jacinta was a first-year electronics student at Badili Vocational Centre, Jerry in Grade Seven at Gerehu Primary School, and Raymond in elementary at St Paul’s, all in Port Moresby.

Mr Wenge said Mrs Kindik and her family were traveling home to Baindoang to erect the headstone for her husband Pomas Kindik’s grave.

Mr Kindik had passed away in 2008.

All their bodies were severely charred, according to Dr Kobby Bomario of Angau Memorial Hospital.

How cool is this?

By Emmanuel Narokobi

Yes that’s right, no more worrying about liqour shops closing at 7pm, no more worrying about going to black market outlets in potentially dodgy areas. Now you can just dial a beer. I actually came across them when they rocked up to sell beers at the wharf before people were taking off for Operation Baby Blue.

Call 723 26919 for your cold ones today. (Well actually don’t call them right now if you’re reading this at work because, well you might get in trouble). But do call in your time of need. Oh and sorry only in Port Moresby at the moment.

You can print out a flyer with tear offs here
