Australia certainly restricted India to singles after they got the seemingly dangerous Verma out for 29 of bugger all balls.
Seems to be an easy target. But we’ll see.

Australia get there in the end thanks to brilliant knocks from Rachel Haynes and Meg Lanning.
The Nine network is only showing the games the Aussie women play, it seems. Disappointing, to say the very least.
PWM, could you please put them on your list?

If the Aussies can pick up enough form to flog Bagladesh, then the Au/NZ game could be a cracker.

There’s a leggie from one of the countries, not NZ/Aus/Eng, she gives the ball a shed load of flight, loved watching her bowl for the short time I was watching.

155 proved to be enough for Australia. Just. NZ get 151.
Australia are into the semifinals!
:)
A reminder that the next televised match starts in about 40 minutes.
WI v SA, to decide who plays us (etc) in the semis on Friday.
It’s raining in Sydney. Unlikely to stop any time soon. Thailand scored 150 against Pakistan putting themselves in a Very Good Position, but play was abandoned due to rain.

I think the Saffies have to win their next game to make the semis, when’s that on?

If it remains washed out each team gets a point and therefore the Jarpies will go through to the semis.
It’s been raining in Sydney most of the day, but it isn’t at the moment (according to the radar) SA v Aus game has been delayed due to the rain. Lets hope they can get the field cleaned up very quickly.
Today’s first game was abandoned without a ball bowled. India will go to the final. England is eliminated.

5th over, Australia 0-29 (Healy 18*, Mooney 10*)
That was glorious! Beth Mooney leans into one and strikes it smoothly to the boundary on the off-side for four.
No run off the second ball, but Mooney clips the next ball short on the off-side for a quick single.
WICKET! That was a solid ball from Khaka, but Healy tries to clip it over the field but only hits it to mid-wicket. She’s out for 178, Australia 1-34!
Out comes skipper Meg Lanning…

Well, they could have had reserve days for the semis.
But they cost would have been a factor. They’d have to book staff for the stadium and security and all that. People expect money even just for being on-call for a day and not being able to plan anything else.

yes. quarantine yourself.
Now, Mr V…… We’ve discussed this “rope inside the fence” issue before. That (at the MCG) is NOT a WHS issue to stop you running into the fence. The “rope” is miles inside the fence, and it’s also got a fence around it as well.

The womens games often have the rope in much more than the men. For the mens game it was an OH&S thing.

It’s not to reduce the risk of players running into the fence – it’s to reduce the risk of head-first diving into the fence.

They are probably some special no-injury designed fence. Not like the old fences.
I think it was Ricky Ponting who got injured, broken ankle or lower leg or something sliding into the fence, which prompted the chance from fence to rope. The players union kicked up a fuss.
