Why don’t the government introduce “double or nothing” on income support payments. Each fortnight you get the option to “double or nothing”. Overall, it wouldn’t cost any more. How many do you reckon would take up the offer? Would this policy win them an election? Would you take up the offer?

You know…… You pick heads or tails. Each Thursday, live on the tele, ScoMo tosses the coin. It’s heads. Those that picked heads get double, those that picked tails get nothing. Those that didn’t pick, get their usual payment.

Can they make it for TV as a reality show?

I really like reality TV.

Woodie, are you using this forum as a focus group to try out Ann Ruston’s latest brainwaves?

The Show has themes that change with the stock market, participates are encouraged to invest based on heads or tails from Scotty .

Well, technically, no.

Like most L/NP ministers/MPs, her EEG is a steady flat-line.

But, enough of the brainstem remains active for her to receive and take credit for suggestions from her staff.

Give the show some segments so that dole participants who get double can go on to invest some of their double payments in stock.

Sometimes when I’m in a bad place sitting alone in the dark I think maybe those reality shows are scripted but then I break free and put those bad thoughts behind me and fling open the door and walk out into the light and switch on the teli and watch my first ad of the day hoping it’s that Rexona one where you almost see a nipple.

I think it should be encouraged.

And free barbecues, because it promotes the sale of sausages.

I wonder what happens to all those reality show people?

Do they go on to become dole participants or do some go into acting?

Rexona should hire Janet Jackson to make new Ads.

I would.

I’m missing the point here… but what are they giving up to take this offer? Otherwise why not just plain double it any give everyone the new amount?

I think they should invest it on the stock market, make them work for it.

They wouldn’t get many takers. A lot of people, me included, don’t bet even on even money situations.

Another example from my Maths course in Uni is the recognition of “downside risk”. Downside risk is the risk of losing everything, most people will go a long way to avoid it.

Perhaps better is making Rump’s salary “double or nothing”. Because Rump is one of the few people with no fear of bankruptcy.

the government should just buy poker machines then centrelink payments would just cycle through without draining more money from the treasury

the money saved would be used to pay off the national debt (probably no point now, the navy has decided to blow up the australian economy and buy the french subsso it won’t matter what money you save with any cost savings)
