Subject: herd immunity?

Once 80-90% of the community (world?) have been infected and recovered from COVID, will there be sufficient herd immunity to prevent further transmission, or does this thing have potential to mutate and reinfect?
(Sorry if this has been asked before, but I can’t see any current COVID thread.)

IDK but on present trends you’d think that if 80% of the world gets the virus, then it will kill about 400 million people. There’s no decent prospect of a vaccine so ATM containment is the goal.

Oops just found the coronavirus thread. Apologies. Can mods merge? In any case, there is discussion there of cases of reinfection.

Eh, that’s okay. It’s fine to start a thread to ask a very specific question so that it doesn’t get lost in the wash.
