I have some Italian Spinach seeds to offer anybody who thinks they would like to have a go at growing them. It’s a yummy green veg. Better than silver beet IMHO. If someone replies then we will make arrangements through Lucky1 if she is agreeable.

Catch you on the morrow. G’night.

Is it time to plant them?

I wonder what I did with mine.

I wish. WA quarantine would stop them in their tracks, but thanks for the offer.

I would love some of those seeds too Pomolo. I have spinach ongoing for most of the year, but have yet to come across one good enough to collect seed from.

Got it HP. This spinach grows like silverbeet. Not crinkly like silverbeet. Paler green leaves and stalk. Has a spinach flavour but less iron taste than silverbeet, I would say. I have tried to ID it via Google images but haven’t ever found a match. Baby spinach is the “green” of the moment quite obviously, on google.

I’m not sure if Pom’s spinach is suited to southern climes. It’s more for warm areas.

Pom, could we use this thread as a general seed offer thread? Seems like a good idea to me. If not, just say the word.

Would anyone like some Italian Flat Leaf Parsley seeds or do you all already have some? I’ve just harvested about a thousand of them…

I tried looking at Bloomsdale but It’s not the one. It’s far too crinkly for the Italian one. Italian is a much paler green and has a long round end leaf.

Is it? It grows in the winter up here. Wouldn’t that mean it should grow down south. I’m really not sure though.

OK. Point taken. Although that pic isn’t a positive for me yet. I did notice that there was a pic of red currents that were grown at the same place and that has to be somewhere south. Therefore the spinach must be able to be grown down south too.

I won’t be sowing mine till late Summer as my vegie bed is having a rest( In other words I haven’t weeded it) It needs a good dose of food and compost after I’ve got the leeks and the last of the carrots out.

Two letters delivered in a week. That’s not bad.
