Hi All,
I am a very new gardener – as is about 3 mths or so ago I decided I needed to show my grandaughters that food grows and is not just bought. I am now addicted to growing things but am a rank amateur.
Horty is a great friend of mine and I have badgered her for info since I started. She has now let me know about your forum and she thinks that there is at lot she doesn’t know about growing veges and fruit and she knows I am going to be keen, but so ignorant, and that you all might be able to guide me. So I hope you don’t mind if I look and take in your forum and ask the occasional question.
Cheers,
Pete

Don’t worry Pete, all you did was miss an extra bit of bracket when you were erasing some of the content. A small thing can make the quotes go haywire.

Well theres no stopping me now, I’ve turned into a rabid vege muncher monster, yum yum yum! and it’s mainly thanks to the advice of the terrific people on this forum :D

OK Pepe. You could add another ‘e’ and be Peepe. Add an ‘r’ and you could be Peeper. I can think of lots of possibilities but some of them would be censored.

G’day Pete.
Be careful if the sheilas all get on at the same time.
They can be a handful…
I’ll give you my gardening tip which fixes many problems, before they arise.
If your soil is crap, you’ll get crap vegies.
If your soil is OK, you’ll get ok vegies.
If your soil is excellent, you’ll get excellent vegies.
Organic matter and good drainage make for excellent soil.
All else is secondary.

Ya forgot water. If your area is on water restrictions, and you don’t have a bore or tank water, you may not be able to grow all you might want to.

Nope. Didn’t forget water. If you have excellent soil with lots of organic matter, your water requirements will be less. If you have abundant water and crap soil, your vegies will still be crap. ( A few exceptions of course). Therefore, water is necessary, but is still secondary to the soil quality.
