Normally I put my beetroot in decor beetroot container (a bit like the tupperware one) but I’m going to need other jars as well this time….I have been saving some for my pasta sauce, but looks like they’ll have beetroot instead. Boy I need to get my Mum’s preserving kit!! Well the jars at least…

I have used it on some of the jars…..still seemed to take forever to get off though. Maybe the jar label companies have become wise of this fact.

I don’t mind that… its when the paper won’t leave the glass. Even after ages soaking.

S’OK. I’m on her side. We got ‘em back. Flogged the lot of ‘em.

Citrus Adhesive Remover works a treat!
Even plastic labels with gummy goo sticum can be easily removed
using a cotton ball to loosen a corner, then continue to moisten the
label from the back as you peel it away from the jar.
It works INSTANTLY upon contact, pleasant smell smelling, and is
safe to handle. Remove any residue with another cotton ball, then
wash in dish detergent. The whole process takes btwn 2 and 5 min.
The lovely thing about the citrus oil based products is that they work
on ANY Surface —>EVEN PAPER<— so it’s good for removing stuff
like 95% OFF label from Sarah Palin’s book cover before giving it
to your worst enemy. :)

LOL! Good one Ogmog!
BTW, where do you get this citrus adhesive remover from? Is it on the supermarket shelves? Please?

Keith… that’s funny :)
95%??? someone still paid too much…
all labels come off if the water is hot enough .. I used to inform anyone who gave me homemade beer in a bottle that still had the old label on it. “you didn’t sterilize this bottle!”
Eucalyptus oil works on glass as does methylated spirit. Citrus based solvents do a good job as well. However it is Hot water that removes all the gunk.

not a good idea. i’ve got one hen who hides all day from the rooster. its mainly because at some stage she intended to become a male i think? so what ever you do don’t call her keith. call her ‘goodum layer’ or something encouraging.

I bought a liter can of it in an auto parts store specifically for
removing a torn plastic-film stick-on type window tint from my
truck before replacing it. It was made by 3M (the adhesive people)
not sure if it’s still available in that size.
Lots of companies make it.. but some make it in miniscule quantities
at outrageous prices for use in an office removing labels etc.
Other companies make the same product & sell it by the bucket
for taking up glued down indoor-out door carpets and tiles.

You CAN buy a product called “GOO GONE” in a supermarket in a pinch
used sparingly, can remove a couple dozen labels.. but for more than that
it’s far less expensive to buy it by the liter.

Yup… and a Hair dryer works as well.

Hey Ogmog. I only ever saw it in the miniscule bottles myself – had no idea you could get it in larger quantities! Thanks for the great info :)

I’m sure that Ogmog isn’t discussing Aussie supermarkets.. but yes there are citrus products out there by many brand names..
