Well here I am, sitting in a restaurant on Jalan Legian having a tofu with mushrooms dish, having knocked over the Arak Attack drink before the suspect ice melts and now into my second diet coke.

Got a shocking toothache last night so I went to dentist on a sunday in a shopping centre. Good as the one at home, except total cost (including painkillers, xray, filling, anti-inflammatries and anti-biotics) was 500,000 rp, That’s about $60. Happy with that.

Mouth is hurting as anaesthetic wears off but I’ll live.

Food is OK and very cheap, tofu is 17,000, Arak about 30,000 I think and the DCs about 15,000 each. So 30+30+17k=about 10 Aus$

But the best bit is the FREE wifi internet. It is really fast too, many times faster than my ADSL at home!

Free=good=I’ll be back.

Turns out my hotel is literally a stone’s throw from the Bali Bombing memorial and the entrance to Poppies Lane 2, one of the tourist traps.

Will explore that another time as I’ll go for a snooze in the 18C room while the gob settles down.

It’s very high 20s at least and fairly humid, but you get that.

I think they are pretty OK here, maybe in the small places you might get the dog.

The fanciest chook dish is 34,000 or $4.20. No duck on menu, this is mostly seafood. Flashest seafood is the “Giant Seafood Platter” at 225,000 so it’s still OK..

HERE is the web album for Bali.

So far there is a couple of the Bombing Memorial, a couple of the street taken from the Memorial, and a few of the gardens taken from my hotel balcony.

I will have to reduce the size of the pictures though as they are too big for dialup, that’s why I haven’t linked them directly. ADSL, no drama..

feeling homesick yet? – No. Mutt is in good hands and bought next door a good copy watch to say thanks…

converted any balinese to strine? – No, no need. Some of the Balinese have accents broader than Aussie shearers! Put on of course to get you to buy something..

Did my bit for free enterprise today. (Apart from buying a couple of hundred dollars worth of gear..)
A fella has been pleading poor because of his family etc etc.. He rides a bike taxi, but will get you a girl in a flash he says. I believe him.

I’ve been looking for a rare special edition cigarette for a mate at home. Sick of looking truth be known. So I put 2 and 2 together.. Told him I’d give hime Rp20,000 if he can find a shop that sells them.

I’m off to watch the cricket once I know when..

Ok, I’m re-doing my web album, putting the High resolution and 800×600 versions separately.

Took some more today. They are still uploading now,

The 800×600 album is HERE.

There is some shots I put up earlier so I won’t repeat them.

It’s still uploading so hang off or refresh often..

I’ll try to put some context into these photos.. These are only 800×600, so not so bad. I’ll put up tthe originals when I find a fast enough connection. Life is short.

These are the Bali Bombing Memorial.

Let’s see if this worked..

CollieWA!! I would have recognised you anywhere! Isn’t it funny, you get a mental picture of people you talk to on forums and if you see them in person or in a photo they look NOTHING like you had imagined. This is the exception for me – it’s just how I thought you’d look! ( Good looking of course!) Nice pics, they have a lovely beach there don’t they?
