Oooh, very flash!
Do you feel like we all do when our boys get a bike? I refused to discuss it with my son!
“Mum, I’ve bought a motor bike”
me “This is not something a mother ever wants to hear!”
I went into denial LOL

My mother was always on about my brother and his bikes.

So when I bought my first (a Honda CB900F Bol’Dor) and learned to ride on it, I just didn’t tell her.
When I crashed it racing at a drag racing track, I didn’t tell her.
When I bought my next bike (a new Honda CBR1000F – a much much faster bike) I didn’t tell her.
When I did 265km/h and Kalgoorlie->south of Perth in 4hrs 50min (600km) I didn’t tell her.
When I was involved in a Police chase (I vanished) I didn’t tell her.

When I was over at a family Christmas and my brother had his Harley Fat Boy, I took it for a ride. Didn’t tell her.
When I got back and Mum said I couldn’t ride a bike and was silly for for trying with no license, the game was up. I told her….

Mine was black and had a half fairing.. And death wobbles if you touched 160km/h..

Here is the CBR. Lovely to ride in comparison, but wouldn’r compare to today’s bikes!

First bike made in 1978.
Second bike made in 1992.
1992-1978=14 years.
2010-1992=18years.

I MUST BE DUE A NEW BIKE!!! 8^P

Have to earn some $$ then.

What year and size is this? I can see it is a CBR-RR, but that’s it.

The latest RR has the ABS option, is this it and does it have it?

But that is a nice bike Thee :) I’ve ridden a few Hondas in my time, just don’t tell GF, Mum or the Police.

Get your endorsement in PNG PM.

I did that and avoided testing, 250cc bikes and bike P plates..

Change licence to PNG (you forgot to bring it..) which has car, bike, truck etc. Wait 6-12 months. Change back to Aust licence. Easy.

Worked for me.

Nice bike. They all look good these days. Luckily they all tend to ride well too. My daughter at 26 has decided to start riding and after multiple lessons she is getting ok. Scares me though since she couldn’t even ride a bicycle as a kid. I ride push bikes around and when I last bought a new very expensive one my daugther took it for a ride, lost control and hit a power pole. I ran up to her and caned her for writing off the bike. Later felt guilty cause i forgot to ask how she was. Good thing about most youngun’s is that they have good reflexes and control over such vehicles.

Our friend who had the bad crash is back home now but still pretty banged up.

She’s got no strength in the broken, right, wrist and is wearing a neck brace. She’s expected to make a full recovery, but isn’t sure at this stage if she’ll get back on a bike.

Lots of physio and work ahead of her yet.

Oops sorry, forgot to reply properly, not that there’s much point as I know diddly squat about motorbikes, although I have fallen asleep on the back of one once while traveling down in South-West WA. We were riding under a canopy of tall trees and the flickering sunlight through the trees was a bit soporific. Not sure why I trusted that guy so much though, he was the same one who told me he’d once been so stoned, he stopped his bike at a set of traffic lights and forgot to put his foot on the ground, so with both feet still on the pedals, he and bike slowly toppled sideways…

I did concider that but she already knew about my friend and that’s the reality of riding bikes. I’ve come off a few times myself.

in their youth, my FIL was taking MIL for a long ride. She would often fall asleep on the back and like MrBL he would just give her a nudge. This time however when he reached back he couldn’t find her!! Pulling over in a panic he saw that she was still on the bike, but lying flat on her back waving in the breeze fast asleep!!

Showed up for work at site B today at 05:45. Oh, didn’t they tell you? You have a night shift t site A tonight.
That’ll learn me for having a holiday.

So I went for a drive. Ended up in Bunbury. In work clothes including the boots. Lack of boots was all that stopped me from test riding bikes before. So the fella at the Kawasaki dealer had previously given a standing invitation to go for rides….

Went for 2 rides, second was on a 1700cc cruiser, didn’t do that much for me. Very very heavy and bulky (over 300kg) and very agricultural. Lots of torque but little ground clearance. Forward controls must be an acquired taste. I haven’t acquired that one yet.

But the first one!!! OMG.
The first one was a ZX1400. Crow noises galore!
I was sitting behind a car in 3rd gear at about 95-100km/h. Opportunity came, I opened it up… Crow noises!!! Went from 100->160/170km/h in a second or two. Crow noises!!

These things are seriously quick. I want one. The one I rode is a demo with ~200km on it. Photos here. The one I rode was black, evil bloody thing my licence reckons. No, didn’t get booked.

Before I buy I also want to experience the Suzuki 1300cc Hayabusa and the Suzuki GSXR1000.

Might hold back and pay cash though, must be getting conservative in my dotage.

those cruisers don’t do much for me either. I don’t find the feet forward sitting position comfortable, too much strain on the back IMHO. And they are not much good in corners either. I do like low down grunt though.

As for a 1400! That is serious horses there! You would have to be watching the speedo constantly!

Me too. The ZX14 probably has more ultimate grunt but mere mortals can only scrape the surface of what these things can do.

Both the ZX14 and the GSXR1000 do a standing 1/4 mile in the 10 sec bracket and both are good for >290km/h. The ZX might even do the 1/4 into the nines with a light jockey. That’s so much faster than cars (OK it’s slightly faster than the fastest Ferraris) it’s laughable.

Just about fast enough. Or maybe not QUITE fast enough!!!!

I’m also led to believe that the GSXR is a lot lighter then the ZX14 and it corners very well too. I guess if you were to travel longer distances, perhaps the ZX14 might be more comfortable on a longer journey?

The ZX is 240kg I think, the GSXR is 201kg.

I suspect the ZX is longer and you sit more upright, the GSXR really is a racing machine…

Oh, want to try the Honda CBR1000RR too, it’s 199kg.

All are just under 20 grand I believe.

Go the GSXR, I have heard only good things about those bikes.

MrBL thinks the Hayabusa is an over powered heap of s**t that most people couldn’t come within a bulls roar of using.

ROFL
