So seriously, is Trump going to return for another four gruelling years, or will the other old man be able to elbow him aside?

Biden is on a hiding to nothing…

I remain optimistic that the average American will look past Biden’s faults and choose someone, something, anything to get rid of Trump.

Overly optimistic. The average American will say one old white dude over another? I think I won’t even bother…

I find it hard to work out why there is virtually no reaction to death toll in the states. I want to blame Trump’s incompetency for at least some of those deaths. I wonder when the anger will kick in? How many will be dead by the time they realise they are shit?
I’m expecting Trump to lose. And lose badly.
But I think he should be run out of town. Or throw in jail. Or an asylum.

You underestimate the average American’s ability to discern how God-awfully bad Trump is IMO.

I think there are enough Democrat / Sanders voters who this time around will not make the same mistake in not voting because their preferred candidate didn’t win the nom.

It is strange that 135,000 deaths over the course of a couple months doesn’t seem to have made much impact on the standings.
But I assume the anti-Trump section of the population is appropriately irate.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is 2020, anything could happen.
I hope you are all right but I don’t have much faith in the American public…

The woman who is responsible for voting in Mississippi just got in trouble for saying that there were a lot of blacks registering and good people should make sure they are enrolled and voting.
Trump can get in by rort and shutting voting venues and losing boxes and there is always the stuffing with the electronic polls and all.
And then there is Mr and Mrs Ohio and Mrs California and cousin Betsy’s hubby who are all glued on Trump..
But there are a lot of the Americans I know who are really ready to get rid of Trump.
Fn cray shit.

It seems he has to do that the hard way because some of the states have already closed the applications process.

There’s a decent chance some kind of bullshit will happen and things will swing back Cunt’s way but, from where he is now, it needs to be about a 7% swing just to get him close enough for the Electoral College to get him over the line. He’s underwater in all of the battleground states, including states such as Georgia that no one thought would be in play. Biden is basically tied with Trump in Texas … Texas! Arkansas, Alabama, Utah and Missouri are in play.
And the clock is ticking. Every week eliminates a bit of event space for things to turn around, and adds to the evidence that he’s not fit for office. Congressional Republicans are mostly sticking by him, but plenty of Republicans outside of Congress are making their disdain public.
His net approval level is -15.4%. No President in the “modern polling era” (ie since WW2) has come back to win a second term from such a poor position 4 months out from the election.
Still: it’s four months.
The betting markets are paying around 2.75 for the Donald Trump win and that feels … basically in the right area, to me. That would imply a probability of the Trump win at 36%. However, as that sand pours through the hourglass, if the polls remain where they are, my estimate of the probably will gradually decline.
For what it is worth (nothing, I suppose) I disapprove of this thread Subject line and don’t know why this thread was started, and I think I’ll just continue to use the existing thread.

I’d agree with that. Tempting fate is not what we should be doing at the moment.

Fair enough, do your worst.
It’s a historically important matter but not really worthy of dignified treatment, in my view.

There’s been a bit of that this year. People saying the quiet part out loud. The veil has lifted somewhat.
Trump himself on F+F said that if they allowed the level of voting the Democrats wanted “you’d never have a Republican elected in this country again”.

To be frank, I’d say the decline and fall of the USA appears to be very much needed, if Western civilisation is going to continue evolving. They have shown themselves utterly inadequate as a model of progressive democracy.

Perhaps it is like AMWAY. Everyone is selling it and no one wants it anymore and only the people who got in early are making any money out of it.
Of course this thread title has the advantage of not containing any spelling mistakes.

Anyway I’m not really wanting a long US election thread associated with my topic-posting reputation, so feel free to ignore this one and return to the original tread.

Victoria would receive the Chinese army with open arms to bring about the historical necessity of Marxism.
The “left” and communism are natural allies, its why chairman Dan was signing secret treaties with China.
As “intersectionality” tore apart America, so it will be with Australia. When activists take over your gov its only a matter of time before cities will be in flames here.

Don’t think activists will be very prominent, other than demanding food, shelter and some money from government. However the outcome may well be the same.

Yes, but as things become more desperate, people’s minds become focused on fewer things (the essentials).

Not as good as the first, probably due to all the background noise and movement, although still impressive. However the strength of their voices able to rise above it all speaks well of the performers.
