A photo would have helped.
However it sounds like many of the things that can go wrong with beans . Have you noted insects attacking? Are there holes in the beans?

if you grow them every year you have to ask – ‘what is different this year?’
- too much water and not enough air circulation will lead to rust, mildew (?) and diseases that result in the symptoms you describe. probably best to pick all the beans and thin out every second plant, mulch, seaweed and see if they pick up.
- lack or rotation, or too acidic soil will lead to the weakness you describe.
some of my beans have turned yellow without explanation – so i just pulled them out. it’s usually easier to replant then to try and fix a crop – but if yours are flowering everywhere (like mine at present) then its worth renovating them with weeding, mulching, seaweed, potash etc to boost the harvest.

thanks RB
i just went for a look at my beans – i’m picking a few and there’s lots of flowers but not as good as last year – so they are just subject to the yearly variations in weather – since my soil, drainage and irrigation are the same as last year.

My beans are slow and not getting many. I have put it down to the weather…..

Beans are always dependant upon the weather.
Most of us try several crops each season. It is wise to stick to tried and true heirloom varieties suitable to your local climate. It is difficult to beat the weather though.. I have to battle with scalding hot soils and aridity.. others have to sufferr torrential downpous and high humidity.
