Well, he gets a seat for life in the parliament. If you are a knight you only get to insist people call you “Sir” but you don’t get any special power. The Lords have the power (if enough of them agree) to overturn the mandate of a democratically elected government.

Interesting little factoid, Lord’s cricket ground was named after a Mr Lord who owned the land. He was not actually a lord as such himself.
