Has anyone tried 3D printing a face mask?
Has anyone used a hand held 3d scanner to scan their face?

Probably tens or hundreds of thousands of people that have 3D printers.
A light frame thats sits on the face with double sided sticky tape on each side?
This would allow any mask on be attched to it.
Are two strings around the ears enough?
I see a lot of air gaps on each side on the nose on a lot of people.
Another string under the chin?
There is already really, really good face masks that are comfortable to wear all day. Some just cover the nose and mouth and are normally used with goggles:
Others incorporate the goggles and shield the face:

I have a mask similar to the top picture.
For spray painting

What are you looking for (in a mask) that’s not available in those masks?

I wear the top one (dual canister) to sleep when I’m staying in bushfire towns. Saves me days of hacking up crap later.
Here’s a thing you could 3D print – An adapter piece that allows you to fit a couple of canisters to the intake side of the CPAP machine.
:-)

Mine has a fairly small filter in it, so yeah that could be a good thing, to get more filter area on it.

Streamlined design like this
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Washable-Reusable-Cotton-Fabric-Face-Mask-With-Respirator-Free-PM2-5-Filters/233658994866
A light face frame which a reuseable mask could firmly seal to.
A nose clip with strings that goes over a cloth mask would work too.

Some masks have the nose clip built-in
The idea is that a 3D printed mask using a face scan will help the mask fit problem.

It’s somewhat easier, cheaper, and much faster to just make a mask that’s flexible enough to follow the various contours of different faces.

Yes, some materials are better at it than others, some materials tend to stretch allowing air gaps around the nose and chin area.

Those built-in nose clips are terrible. You can buy nose clips for inserting into you own cloth masks. If you do, choose the thickest nose clip metal you can buy.
I’ve been experimenting with a completely different type of nose clip. One that goes over the mask, over the upper lip and up the sides of the nose. I’m not quite there yet because I still need to add a a notch in it to bypass the Depressor septi nasi muscle, shown below.
I haven’t tried 3-D printed.

Yes, the nose clips I’ve seen are all very thin and need to be better.
A nose clip made of metal but like a memory foam.
Something like that maybe.
The are also moldable plastic products available that could make good nose clips.
