Ya see….. I’m only using 10-15% of my monthly quota of 90GB at the mo, and be buggered if I’m gunna sit there at the pooter to watch anything I missed out on, or stare at the tiny tablet to watch it. I remember, not that long ago, I had to get by on 2GB quota a month. (both then and now via satellite).
It’s all connected and “cast“ing.
Google Home installed on the tablet OK, and set up the tele for “cast“ing. However, Google App won’t install in any of the Android devices I have. Tele is connected via wireless router.
Youtube ““casts” works fabby from both Android app and Chrome browser.
ABC iView “casts” fine for everything but “live” feed. That keeps buffering every 15 secs or so. (Android app)
SBS on demand (android App) connects but no pic at all.
7plus says ready to cast and nothing happens.
hmmmmm………
Gunna do a net connection/network load test.
Live stream iView, On Demand, 7plus all via via broswer on desktop and two laptops AND youtube via Chromecast and see what happens.

Mr V. If you go into “settings”> “System” > “About” You will see a “device name” there. You can change this. Maybe to “Michael’s Laptop” or something lke that. But this is the “device” the network sees as the “device name”. The ‘device name” in the settings of my new tele, is “China Dragon”. 😱😰

What this does is strips the “streaming” component only out of the tablet phone app, and transfers it to the tele. So streams direct to the tele, while being controlled from your device. You can even turn your device off, or go do something else on it, like check this forum, or your facebook.

I haven’t install the chromecast dongle yet

I tried some other mirroring apps that failed before I figured out ezmira was the orginal app that comes with the MIracast dongle.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromecast
Chromecast is a line of digital media players developed by Google. The devices, designed as small dongles, enable users with a mobile device or personal computer to play Internet-streamed audio-visual content on a high-definition television or home audio system through mobile and web apps that support the Google Cast technology. Alternatively, content can be mirrored from the Google Chrome web browser running on a personal computer, as well as from the screen of some Android devices.

I was using a smartphone going from 4g to wifi direct on the smartphone to miracast dongle plugged into the Monitor
it casts / streams video and audio over wifi
another way is NBN > wifi modem > casting dongle > TV or Monitor
another way is NBN > modem > wired Network > device

That’s pretty close to the way it works, Mr Ian. You have, say, the ABC iView app on your phone. Or Youtube, or 9now or netflix, Stan, Foxtel etc etc.
Use the tablet/phone app as you would nomally, then tap the ‘cast” icon, and it transfers just the streaming component to the tele. Full 4K UHD, if that’s what you are streaming.

Anyway, methinks the new TV is going back in the box and getting taken back as “not fit for purpose” under Australian consumer law.
Wondered why it was “well priced”.
It appears that the Cast Firmware version (1.22) is 3 years+ old in the tele and is no longer supported by the majority of “cast” enabled apps and websites. And no upgrades or new versions will be forthcoming from Soniq (TV Brand). Latest firmware versions are 1.44
Awaiting confirmation from all the TV streaming apps (7plus, SBS on demand, etc) as to the minimum Cast firmware version that is supported.
Also, others on the webernets with the same firmware version I have, are having the same problems.
9now and Youtube are the only ones that work flawlessly. All the others only just partially work, or not at all. I don’t have a netflix, disney, or Foxtel etc account to test those sort of “pay” streaming services.
And one for the Parpyone, there’s even a streaming app called “old movies”. (free) Currently watching “Teenagers from Outer Space” (1959). Works fine on the tablet, but it won’t “cast” either.

One smart phone’s camera acts like the lens for another remote smartphone so you can use any smartphone’s camera app to trigger the remote smartphone’s camera.

Seen these apps
They are kind of like camera casting
One smart phone’s camera acts like the lens for another remote smartphone so you can use any smartphone’s camera app to trigger the remote smartphone’s camera.
Ged it.?

Uses
! Does away with self timer problems, the trigger is via Bluetooth control on both smartphones
2 Will get you that above crowd shot
Attach remote camera to a selfie stick so one can take a photo above the crowd
3 Reach high places for photo, say roof damage assessment, attach remote camera to long pole etc, can then see where to take best shots.
4 Attach remote camera to a drone for higher shots must still be within Bluetooth range of around 10 – 20 meters

BT cameras can also violate privacy very easily, so must be used within the law.
BT cameras could advance narcissism as well, a narcissist with two cameras is fine tuning their PR

Bird lovers
Two BT smartphone cameras would bee great for insect and bird lovers :)
You could get one camera closer to the action with you further way or inside the house with the remote screen
Remote astronomy
Similar thing one smartphone camara outside, the other smartphone inside using the view screen

Mr Tamb. Chromecast Lesson 101.
SLIDE 1: INTRODUCTION
Do you use Chrome as your browser? Go up the top right (3 dots) and click. then click “cast”
Here endeth the lesson.
You now know more than yourt used to. See? You can learn something new every day. 🤓
Agree with tamb.
I do not use Chrome as browser.
I got fed up with having to wait five minutes (or longer) for it to boot up every time I started it on my computer.
Can you suggest an alternative first lesson?

So with something like this, what will I need in the other room? Just the streaming device plugged into some speakers?

Plug streaming device into an aux amp input and speakers or plug it into powered / active speakers
and your set to go through itunes on a pc in another room
itunes has a little icon which allows you to switch between sound card and wifi device on win10

Blue tooth remote apps would be great for reporters or journalists operating one smartphone camera on a tripod
Controlling the tripod camera with another smartphone
they could then see behind themselves and set up more quickly

Well, the BOD (Board of Directors) and EC (Executive Committee) met yesterday, and the motion was put, and seconded and officially minuted, to keep the new tele. It was minuted that the tele was a good 4K UHD tele, with superior HD FTA (1080p) picture than the old one. It was also noted that the inbuilt Chromecast functionality was flawed, and out of date. It was noted that the capital appropriation for the tele was approx 1.5 weeks’ worth of ciggies.
The motion was then put (and seconded) to allocate funds from petty cash to acquire a Chromecast Ultra device. The motion passed unanimously.
The Technical Dept took a few minutes to install the newly acquired device, and their report indicates full functionality on all devices and services.
An addendum to the Technical Report noted that no 4K UHD material is generally available other than through online webernet streaming services.
A demonstration to the
BOD and EC was done in the lunch room over a cuppa at morning tea, of both 4K
UHD and 8K
UHD streaming services using webernets and Youtube.
Exclamations of WOW and 😎😍🤩😵🥴😁and 😮 abounded from all who attended.
A Press Release will be forthcoming.
