Well, yes… in sickness it starts the melt, probably the fever… but I’m definitely learning to not care again. Being back on the wagon feels so good.

A collection of trillions of cells organised into 80 distinct structures within one body.
Quiet a feat shoving all that biology into one body
And amazing that such a body can move around in space time.
Many things taken for granted, humanity needs to really consider this.
Every gland can be considered an organ. We’ve got millions of them.

That’s not the amazing thing. The amazing thing is that all that biology fits inside a single cell, the zygote.
subject organs and function, i’d like to know how much of this is attribution for understanding, abstraction maybe, you know given most of it evolved completely independent of abstraction regard (quite obvious to most people probably), and by accidents of evolution, and replication of course
I mean you can attribute function, and purpose, resolve the mechanisms, you’re in the territory of essential characteristics for defining something, to explain it, but some of it is made up for the purpose of abstraction
so i’m guessing there’s some possible softer territory for defining (or the reverse) what an organ may be, or could be, or do
I guess an organ is generally something you can cut out, or off, and plonk it on the table, it’s physical that way

Interesting way to put it.
:-)
It’s certainly true for a lot of organs, I’d be interested to know if it’s true for all.
An organ is normally understood to be a collection of cells working collectively to undertake a task.
