Whoever wrote the news article hasn’t a clue about astronomy. Six (?) errors in the following quote.

“This image represents the Large Magellanic Cloud, one of the brightest supernova explosions in centuries. The image shows a pink shock wave interacting with the remnants of the star. The Great Magellanic Cloud. This image shows the two massive stars of the Eta Karina star system.”

The images are from that article all old, like ten or more years old. Unless I miss my guess, the supernova image from the LMC was published in 2003. (Possibly 2007).

But then, NASA image of the day https://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/imagegallery/iotd.html archive hasn’t been all that inspiring lately.
