Subject: Power supply substitute?

My landline telephone base station is not working. It appears that the lightweight (I guess switch-mode) power supply has failed. It has no output voltage. On the back, it says 6.0 V, 600 mA.

I found another lightweight power supply, rated 5.70 V, 800mA. It’s output is 6.05 V, according to my digital multimeter.

Is this an OK substitute? (After I change the low voltage adapters, which are different.)

be fine. the voltage may drop a bit with a load. but sibeen with give a definitive answer and this sort of thing is his bread and butter.

Make sure you get his charge-out rates before you ask.

It’ll be fine :)

That’ll be $280, and be glad that I’m charging mates rates and haven’t applied the weekend loading.

Thanks for the help.

The landline is now working again, using the old Nokia mobile phone charger, which now has the low-voltage adapter from the original (failed) power supply attached to it. All good.

Thanks again.

It was cash, so you don’t have to be concerned about any tax implications. No, not registered mail.
