Subject: The Carbon Club
A book by Marian Wilkinson who dug deeply into her research to uncover the opposition to climate change. I listened to an hour long interview on the ABC with Marian Wilkinson who a discovered details that will amaze you and will provide some of the people they can curse as the climate warms making their world more difficult to live.
>>The inside story of how a network of influential climate sceptics, politicians and business leaders fought to control Australia’s response to the climate crisis.
As the climate crisis threatens more extreme bushfire seasons, droughts and floods, many Australians are demanding their leaders answer the question: ‘Why didn’t you do something?’
The Carbon Club reveals the truth behind Australia’s two decades of climate inaction. It’s the story of how a loose confederation of influential climate-science sceptics, politicians and business leaders sought to control Australia’s response to the climate crisis. They shared a fear that dealing with climate change would undermine the nation’s wealth, jobs and competitive advantage – and the power of the carbon club.
Central to their strategy was an international campaign to undermine climate science and the urgency of the climate crisis. The more the climate science was questioned, the more politicians lost the imperative to act. The sustained success of the carbon club over two decades explains why Australian governments failed to deal with the challenge of climate change. But at what cost to us and the next generation?
One of Australia’s most respected investigative journalists, Marian Wilkinson has tracked the rise and rise of Australia’s carbon club in brilliant detail, with extraordinary access to key players on all sides. The result is a book that is both essential and disturbing reading.<<

This is IMPORTANT people, it is the ABC Radio National’s Big Ideas podcast with Marian Wilkinson – journalist and author discussing her book “The Carbon Club” which is staggering in its revelations. It runs for just under 1 hour, but will be the most revealing hour you are ever likely to experience. I urge everyone to listen especially after the first 2 minutes and your knowledge and understanding of climate change background will be changed forever. People please listen, this is very, very important!

I too inherited the cold war with the prospect of nuclear war, but at the time there was more concern about radiation, so no real comparison to global warming and the sixth mass extinction event, which will happen with only the extent being in some contention. If you really want to learn something I strongly suggest you listen to the interview as suggested.

I posted this nearly 2 weeks ago and due to its importance, expected a high level of interest, especially as it affects you all and in particular your children and their offspring, but did I get a single pertinent response, absolutely nothing, which reflects the attitude of society today.
The reason the people discussed in this well researched book can and are still getting away in Australia, America and other parts of the world by mudding the water and diverting attention from global warming and its associated problems for no other reason that they can make more money, is apathy, YOUR lack of interest. I suppose young people in the not too distant future as they suffer the consequences of climate change along with most other life forms don’t need individuals to blame, they can simply direct their anger at the lack of interest of current generations and you bloody-well deserve it.
So you think I am ridiculous, well just look at yourselves!

You just don’t get it dv. I’m talking about the people and organisations who have made GW far worse and are continuing to make it far worse.
