and weren’t the feds actually responsible for the aged care fiasco? and din’t i just link to the gutting of the budget for aged care that the feds have overseen? and din’t the RC find that aged care, the private sector that the feds oversee, was a shambles? But PWM doesn’t mention that because he doesn’t actually care about the human cost he just wants to score political points. much the same as his stance on refugees. Matthew 21:5
OK, fair cop. I was wrong.
When questioned if he was the king of the Jews/ messiah during a roman inquiry , jesus didn’t affirm it.
When jesus finally dies on the cross he seems surprised that God ( his father has deserted him).
In reality jesus was a lay preacher , after he dies the Jewish priesthood gets wiped out and paradoxically replaced by similar people – people with knowledge of the law but no claim as such to be bonifide priests. The fly in the ointment of the story of jesus is that there is reality very little about him between his miraculous birth and when he pops up performing miracles. He devotes most of his life to being a carpenter rather than the son of God.

Sounds like hearsay to me.
Vyr as far as it goes the Book of jings is from the Hebrew bible and there aree two chapters on the Kings n the old testament. It realted to Jews and of course they may have called him the Prophet or the Saviour indeed eben the king because they were looking for a saviour but it was Herod who ranted on about him being the King of the Jews.

When Donald Trump leaves the White House he will still receive top secret daily briefings about US intelligence and world events — unless incoming President Joe Biden decides to revoke his access because he is a security risk.
I think the problem about security risk is real right now. Biden can’t get anything done about in at the moment.

I don’t think there is any point per se. It’s just someone’s little art project and it made me smile.
It made me smile too, I just thought there might be some puzzle element I wasn’t getting :)
Also, I was in a slightly grumpy mood earlier this morning for no particular reason.

The most proactive male companion was the very first one, science teacher Ian Chesterton (played by William Russell).
The Doctor’s character was all-over-the-shop in the early stories. It took quite a while before he settled down as an unambiguously “good” character, the hero of the show.
In the meantime Ian often had to take control of adverse situations, often in the face of opposition from the Doctor. Ian (the Doctor always called him “Chesterton”) retained this decision-making role in more muted form after the Doctor was established as a more-or-less benevolent authority figure.

- Bangladesh and Rwanda have the strongest confidence in vaccines – with almost all people in both countries agreeing vaccines are safe, effective and important for children to have. Rwanda also has the highest trust in their healthcare system, at 97% – compared to a global average of 76%
- People living in high-income countries have the lowest confidence in vaccines.
- France has the lowest levels of trust in vaccines globally: a third (33%) of its inhabitants disagree that vaccines are safe and a tenth (10%) disagree they are important for children to have.

I shut one Stop-the-Steal idiot on Imgur the other day.
He’d posted video from security cams in an electoral office in Georgia. Claimed it showed ‘liberals’ dragging boxes of fake votes out of ‘secret stashes’.
I asked why he thought they’d do that in front of the cameras. Reply: ‘stupid liberal, too dumb to know they were there!’.
My response: ‘So this carefully crafted and devious conspiracy didn’t account for security cams in the office?’
Reply:‘This was at 1 am, when the vote was swinging against Biden!’.
My response: ‘Sorry, pal, date-time stamp on the video you posted says 8:21 am 03 Nov 2020. The election had barely started. If you’re going to post nonsense, don’t make it so easy to disprove.’

Indeed they are.
In factories where 16 hour days are common, and 20 hours ‘expected from diligent employees’, and where workers are constantly driven to work faster.

Given that all the iShit is made using slave labour, you have to wonder why all their products are twice as expensive as better products made by their competitors.

If it is raining you’ll have to mow it two or three times before Christmas so just get out there and do it.

Trump has effectively quit politics, and become a televangelist.
His ‘Stop The Steal’ religion (and it is a religion, founded on myth, propagated by decree, based on no evidence) has made him at least $150 million so far.
When people make donations to the ‘recount fund’, then unless the donation is $5,000 or more, 60% of the donation goes to Trump’s ‘Save America Fund’, as so-called political action committee, with only one beneficiary: Donald Trump. That fund has legal barriers to actually mounting any election challenges, even if it wanted to.
40% the money goes the Republican Party. Nothing to do with election challenges, just into party funds.
All this is set out in the fine print on the donations webpages etc.
Only donations on donations over $5,000 is any of the money directed to Trump’s so-called ‘legal defence fund’.
So, all those MAGA idiots sending him big chunks of their life savings are being conned by him one last time.

He’s banking on them having not noticed/read the fine print so far (so they probably won’t), that the comparatively cheap showpiece ‘challenges’ mounted to the election result will satisfy them, and that they’ll be happy with the warm, fuzzy illusion that they helped fund them.

Really? Do you have reliable references that I could read?

The owners of Australia’s newest coal-fired power station have written down the value of the asset to zero, wiping out a $1.2 billion investment in the face of an onslaught of renewable energy.
In what a financial market analyst said was a “classic example” of changes predicted in the energy industry, Japanese conglomerate Sumitomo has written off its $250 million equity stake in the Bluewaters power plant in Western Australia’s south-west.

But, our govt isn’t going to be game to play that card.

The miners, with the ear of the government could just secretly make deals to export their iron-ore elsewhere and somehow forget to tell the Chinese that the ships aren’t heading in their direction. A couple months of disruption would be well worth it in the ‘saving face’ game.

The unions have lost their influence, and their appeal, in their earnestness in recent decades to, as far as possible, not rock the boat while Labor is in govt. Having done that, they find that, when the L.NP is in power, they’ve traded away any real voice that they once had, and are now very much a squeak from the sidelines.
Labor has done a lot to disconnect itself from the union movement, so as to appeal to foreign and corporate influences and to media people like Murdoch, Conrad Black, Packer, Stokes, and to appear to them as an acceptable and accommodating substitute for the L/NP.
So we have the L/NP, and a bizarro-world copy of the L/NP to choose from.
Whether there’s any way back for Labor, and whether they even want to find it, i don’t know.

My thinking on this is that their natural base has been undermined by globalism. Australia does not have a situation where the majority (or even a sizable enough minority) of workers do non-skilled manual work for low wages. That stuff all gets off-shored chasing even lower wages. The jobs that remain are service-oriented, or higher skilled manual work. These people don’t see themselves as “working class” in the traditional British or European sense. They just see themselves as “normal”. We don’t have a large class of disgruntled and disenfranchised people who look to the union movement to bring about an improvement to their quality of life.

There’s certainly not as much as there once was, and Labor today is willing to be more accomodating to the corporate/‘bosses’ viewpoints than they once would have been. The ‘can see the L/NP outlook’ more readily than in the past.

IDGI. People with severe head injuries are well known to be combative, and a ride in an Ambulance can be apocalyptically expensive in some parts of Australia.

Didn’t know that (about being combative).
A quick Binge finds a report on a woman from Brighton, UK, being jailed for being combative while paramedics were trying to help her.
I’ve never understood why ambulance costs aren’t covered under Medicare.

Queensland has free ambulance for permanent residents.
I’d live there for that.

I thought a year was the time it took for the Earth to go round the Sun. It would still do that if there were no humans.

Well you have to start somewhere. I guess that would be from where ever you look up?

… and even if it was just a human construct, it would still be something that exists.

Nice optical illusion.
… but I don’t like the “time is just an illusion” meme.

He didn’t get the prize. He did it to make better timekeeping.

Finally in 1773, when he was 80 years old, Harrison received a monetary award in the amount of £8,750 from Parliament for his achievements, but he never received the official award (which was never awarded to anyone). He was to survive for just three more years.

The original prize was meant to be £20,000
