This isn’t a real thing Michael O’Brien said, but it could easily pass as a real thing Michael O’Brien said.

and weren’t the feds actually responsible for the aged care fiasco? and din’t i just link to the gutting of the budget for aged care that the feds have overseen? and din’t the RC find that aged care, the private sector that the feds oversee, was a shambles? But PWM doesn’t mention that because he doesn’t actually care about the human cost he just wants to score political points. much the same as his stance on refugees. That’s the religious right for you.

When questioned if he was the king of the Jews/ messiah during a roman inquiry , jesus didn’t affirm it.

When jesus finally dies on the cross he seems surprised that God ( his father has deserted him).

In reality jesus was a lay preacher , after he dies the Jewish priesthood gets wiped out and paradoxically replaced by similar people – people with knowledge of the law but no claim as such to be bonifide priests. The fly in the ointment of the story of jesus is that there is reality very little about him between his miraculous birth and when he pops up performing miracles. He devotes most of his life to being a carpenter rather than the son of God.

We don’t even know if he existed outside the pages of the Bible.

he existed. I’ve seen pictures of him.

Sounds like hearsay to me.

Vyr as far as it goes the Book of jings is from the Hebrew bible and there aree two chapters on the Kings n the old testament. It realted to Jews and of course they may have called him the Prophet or the Saviour indeed eben the king because they were looking for a saviour but it was Herod who ranted on about him being the King of the Jews.

I don’t think Jesus made that claim though, IIRC.

Matthew 21:5

OK, fair cop. I was wrong.

Matthew of which bible?

Thousands of variations.
Anyway, I got to do two forty minute periods of religious instruction every day and Jesus was the son of God. Well outranking kingship.

There’s a lot of conjecture and misinformation out there friend but you can ring PeterT Ministries on 1300JESUS and be put through to a councillor, the call cost per minute is not inconsiderable but if you mention my name and scan a QR code you could go into a draw for a discount.
Still what we used to say a semenary school, what price the TRUTH.

I’m pissed of with Scummo sabre-rattling at somebody (a Chinese official) sharing a political cartoon. We have a proud tradition of political cartoons in this country, putting shit on pollies and reaching into the depths of wrong-doings. Perhaps it would’ve been better if another political cartoon appeared in Australia, counterpointing the Australian war crimes and Tiananmen Square massacre (with numbers of deaths) using a subtitle something like “And who will get prosecuted?”.

When Donald Trump leaves the White House he will still receive top secret daily briefings about US intelligence and world events — unless incoming President Joe Biden decides to revoke his access because he is a security risk.

Trump is a definite security risk. He’d sell his creepy, idiot, criminal children to a dog food factory if it would give his ego a little boost. He’d think nothing of passing on secrets to bignote himself.

The most proactive male companion was the very first one, science teacher Ian Chesterton (played by William Russell).

The Doctor’s character was all-over-the-shop in the early stories. It took quite a while before he settled down as an unambiguously “good” character, the hero of the show.

In the meantime Ian often had to take control of adverse situations, often in the face of opposition from the Doctor. Ian (the Doctor always called him “Chesterton”) retained this decision-making role in more muted form after the Doctor was established as a more-or-less benevolent authority figure.

Russian soldiers are taught to use entrenching tools as weapons. Including sharpening the edges and throwing them like axes.

It’s been a thing since those big battles of WW2 – Stalingrad, Kursk, and the like.

I’ve read accounts from both German and Russian soldiers of things that happened in the battle of Kursk, probably the biggest land battle in history.

The depths of brutality and savagery to which people like you and me can descend are truly horrifying. I’ve seen brutality born of necessity, but not like that.

It’s been a thing since those big battles of WW2 – Stalingrad, Kursk, and the like.

This bloke was the youngest ever WOII in the Australian Army, sent to Vietnam two years before official hostilities (they left Australia in plain clothes) to train Sth Vietnamese and Montagnard soldiers, under the banner of the newly-formed Australian Army Training Team, Vietnam.

I was a tad young at that stage but they did want to train me to become a strategic officer trainer before the war came to an end. It wouldn’t have mattered to the war because it would have been over by the time I’d finished my training.

His name’s not ‘Rick’, is it?

Terry.

Oh. I knew an ex-AATTV bloke for a while. They were a pretty select bunch.

That’s not really a Steve Buscemi quote though, is it? The line is spoken by a character called James McCord, and written by Caspian Tredwell-Owen.

It’s like attributing the line “To Be Or Not To Be, that is the question” to Mel Gibson rather than to Prince Hamlet or William Shakespeare.

yeah, like attributing The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children, to Jules Winnifield played by Samuel Jackson rather than ezekeil

In fairness the version spoken by Jules is quite different from Ezekiel’s so if I saw a poster attributing the PF version to Jules or Quentin then it wouldn’t trouble me much.

  • Bangladesh and Rwanda have the strongest confidence in vaccines – with almost all people in both countries agreeing vaccines are safe, effective and important for children to have. Rwanda also has the highest trust in their healthcare system, at 97% – compared to a global average of 76%
  • People living in high-income countries have the lowest confidence in vaccines.
  • France has the lowest levels of trust in vaccines globally: a third (33%) of its inhabitants disagree that vaccines are safe and a tenth (10%) disagree they are important for children to have.

He’d posted video from security cams in an electoral office in Georgia. Claimed it showed ‘liberals’ dragging boxes of fake votes out of ‘secret stashes’.

I asked why he thought they’d do that in front of the cameras. Reply: ‘stupid liberal, too dumb to know they were there!’.

My response: ‘So this carefully crafted and devious conspiracy didn’t account for security cams in the office?’

Reply:‘This was at 1 am, when the vote was swinging against Biden!’.

My response: ‘Sorry, pal, date-time stamp on the video you posted says 8:21 am 03 Nov 2020. The election had barely started. If you’re going to post nonsense, don’t make it so easy to disprove.’

I shut one Stop-the-Steal idiot on Imgur the other day.

No further responses.

LOL

right but posting nonsense, that’s so easy to disprove is something only stupid liberals would do

Indeed they are.

In factories where 16 hour days are common, and 20 hours ‘expected from diligent employees’, and where workers are constantly driven to work faster.

Given that all the iShit is made using slave labour, you have to wonder why all their products are twice as expensive as better products made by their competitors.

The yard has to be mowed by Christmas.
It is pretty fine today so I could do it today but that is 10 days out from Christmas, too early because it will be long again by then but then again it might rain all the way up till Christmas.
I think I need to spend a little bit of money and talk to a clairvoyant.

If it is raining you’ll have to mow it two or three times before Christmas so just get out there and do it.

Yesterday I received a text message from Aust post saying an item was ready for pick up.
As I wasn’t expecting anything I didn’t open the url. Went to the PO & there was nothing for me. We suspect it was some form of scam.

Trump has effectively quit politics, and become a televangelist.

His ‘Stop The Steal’ religion (and it is a religion, founded on myth, propagated by decree, based on no evidence) has made him at least $150 million so far.

When people make donations to the ‘recount fund’, then unless the donation is $5,000 or more, 60% of the donation goes to Trump’s ‘Save America Fund’, as so-called political action committee, with only one beneficiary: Donald Trump. That fund has legal barriers to actually mounting any election challenges, even if it wanted to.

40% the money goes the Republican Party. Nothing to do with election challenges, just into party funds.

All this is set out in the fine print on the donations webpages etc.

Only donations on donations over $5,000 is any of the money directed to Trump’s so-called ‘legal defence fund’.

So, all those MAGA idiots sending him big chunks of their life savings are being conned by him one last time.

I can see this seriously backfiring on him. Remember he steadfastly supported their right to guns and stocking up on ammunition.
They may not have any of their money left but he’s not president after January and they’ll be bitchin’ peeved that he’s off with their money.

He’s banking on them having not noticed/read the fine print so far (so they probably won’t), that the comparatively cheap showpiece ‘challenges’ mounted to the election result will satisfy them, and that they’ll be happy with the warm, fuzzy illusion that they helped fund them.

All this is set out in the fine print on the donations webpages etc.

Only donations on donations over $5,000 is any of the money directed to Trump’s so-called ‘legal defence fund’.

So, all those MAGA idiots sending him big chunks of their life savings are being conned by him one last time.

Really? Do you have reliable references that I could read?

The whole thing about being president in the first place was to fix his money woes.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-12-17/bluewaters-coal-fired-power-station-written-off-books/12990532

The owners of Australia’s newest coal-fired power station have written down the value of the asset to zero, wiping out a $1.2 billion investment in the face of an onslaught of renewable energy.

In what a financial market analyst said was a “classic example” of changes predicted in the energy industry, Japanese conglomerate Sumitomo has written off its $250 million equity stake in the Bluewaters power plant in Western Australia’s south-west.

Like i said earlier this morning, the Australian govt has an ace up its sleeve: come up with some excuse for an embargo on iron ore shipments to China.

That’ll get their attention.

China hasn’t, and won’t, put any obstacles in the way of the flow of iron ore from Australia to China.

But, our govt isn’t going to be game to play that card.

The miners, with the ear of the government could just secretly make deals to export their iron-ore elsewhere and somehow forget to tell the Chinese that the ships aren’t heading in their direction. A couple months of disruption would be well worth it in the ‘saving face’ game.

Well, then the accepted drill is to saunter into the room quite casually, sidle up to mother and say, in quiet tones so as to not alarm the servants, ‘ i say, mater, dashed awkward and all that, i know, but there does appear to be some sort of conflagration in progress in one’s bed-chamber’.

The unions have lost their influence, and their appeal, in their earnestness in recent decades to, as far as possible, not rock the boat while Labor is in govt. Having done that, they find that, when the L.NP is in power, they’ve traded away any real voice that they once had, and are now very much a squeak from the sidelines.

Labor has done a lot to disconnect itself from the union movement, so as to appeal to foreign and corporate influences and to media people like Murdoch, Conrad Black, Packer, Stokes, and to appear to them as an acceptable and accommodating substitute for the L/NP.

So we have the L/NP, and a bizarro-world copy of the L/NP to choose from.

Whether there’s any way back for Labor, and whether they even want to find it, i don’t know.

My thinking on this is that their natural base has been undermined by globalism. Australia does not have a situation where the majority (or even a sizable enough minority) of workers do non-skilled manual work for low wages. That stuff all gets off-shored chasing even lower wages. The jobs that remain are service-oriented, or higher skilled manual work. These people don’t see themselves as “working class” in the traditional British or European sense. They just see themselves as “normal”. We don’t have a large class of disgruntled and disenfranchised people who look to the union movement to bring about an improvement to their quality of life.

There’s certainly not as much as there once was, and Labor today is willing to be more accomodating to the corporate/‘bosses’ viewpoints than they once would have been. The ‘can see the L/NP outlook’ more readily than in the past.

Workplace relations have changed a bit.
It used to be that you’d never get a job on the wharfs unless your father or uncle of grandfather had worked at same wharf or nearby wharf, aye ‘twas only way to get job.

Victor Papa November

Doesn’t always work.

BBC is awake-up to most VPn IP addresses.

I didn’t actually realize iView had been doing Dr Who reruns recently. It doesn’t really matter. I see Human Nature and Family of Blood expire tomorrow, so we might have another afternoon session before they fall off. We have been a bit picky. Don’t like John Sim as The Master and not particulaly keen on Missy either.

Didn’t know that (about being combative).

A quick Binge finds a report on a woman from Brighton, UK, being jailed for being combative while paramedics were trying to help her.

I’ve never understood why ambulance costs aren’t covered under Medicare.

Finally in 1773, when he was 80 years old, Harrison received a monetary award in the amount of £8,750 from Parliament for his achievements, but he never received the official award (which was never awarded to anyone). He was to survive for just three more years.
