Are we better off building a huge spheroid that can be moved further out as the sun becomes bigger?

When the sun becomes a red giant its surface will extend out towards Mars.

Once the sun starts shrinking again to become a white dwarf, we can move the spheroid back in closer again.

We could build a satellite planet out of a giant IRON meteorite like 16 Psyche that’s worth around $10,000 quadrillion.

It doesn’t have to be that one, but another one like it, maybe build more than one, several of them.

don’t worry we won’t have to worry about that far in the future we’re already solving any need for habitation

sounds simpler to pursue space exploration (find new digs)
long before said expansion/contraction leading to explosion

you know… “bu~bye see ya’ wouldn’t wanna’ be ya’”

My idea was to use a melted comet wrapped in plastic as the habitat. Initially in near-Earth orbit and then moved out as the Sun expands to a red giant. The material of the comet would be rich in water and organic chemicals that we and our ecosystem could feed off.

How big a comet, Mr Noah?

In a billion years

You’d swap our existing sun for a similar sun elsewhere.

In the blink of an eye our sun would be pensioned off and a replacement put in its place.

Still easier and somewhat questionably better to continue toward
doing what our ancestors did when Africa became less habitable:
…bug~out and ultimately seed the earth with our mutating DNA.

(I say questionable because I also view man as a sort of virus /-8
and seeding the universe with people will most likely result in the
same way it did for every country & island we ultimately inhabited.)

what are the odds that we’ll figure it out & clean up our act by then?
