I clicked on a labrador using the buttons. He seems to have ‘More. Food.’ together. And that seems right for a lab.

Thanks DV.

Cobbett has a large vocab already. I would really like the buttons to correspond to the words he already knows. If he shows signs of wanting more treats and the packet is empty I can tell him there are more treats in the cupboard in the kitchen and you can see him trying to motivate me to go to the kitchen. When he is being cooperative he will bring the toy I have named. Other times he keeps on trying to force me into accepting the toy he brings. NO I say. I want the ball. So he takes the duck away. Sometimes he brings me the ball but other times returns with the duck and pushes it toward me. He isn’t as bright as the border collie that knows the names of over 300 toys and will bring the new toy if asked for the toy he hasn’t heard about before. If I ask him whether he wants to play he will get me a toy.

When I asked him whether he wants buttons he got very excited. But he doesn’t know what a button is. But he knows what wants means. He wants dinner. He always wants visitors. If you asked him whether he wants visitors he will run to the window and look up the drive.

This is what happens when you spend 5 years with no one else to talk to but the dog. I am sure I could teach him some of this quite quickly.

Bunny started using the buttons ‘poop’ and ‘play.’ She worked out that that was Bunny communicating ‘fart.’

Poop play works for me.
