9 ducks went bye bye this afternoon, traded them for 5 kilo of large parrot seed……$7.95

Very quiet out the back as all the other ducks are waddling round with their rosaries out praying there isn’t another raid….

8 weeks – by now any boys should have obvious combs and wattles. If they are still small and pale you have girls. For the pure breeds at least.

Oh I would hate to have to do that.
I couldn’t part with them.
I have been given the name and address of a poultry place not far from me where I can get a couple more layer chook’s.
But I won’t get anymore for a little while.. untill the 5 I have got stop laying 4 egg’s a day.

Wow, I am flat out getting 2 eggs a day from 9!! Made the mistake of getting Exhibition line bantam Australorps who have never been very good layers – unlike the larger Australorps, commercial line that I once had and which became foundation stock for local Special school setting up a farm :)

Ducks have re-started to lay though and some of the juvenile ducks should be thinking about it soon too…
