Subject: N95 masks without vent vs surgical masks.
An obvious observation which went over the heads of health experts.
N95 masks without vent protects yourself and protects other people.
Surgical masks protect other people but not yourself.
Hospital and doctors clinics are requesting people to wear surgical masks.
Why are hospitals and doctors clinics telling people to take off a superior mask that protects yourself and others and put on an inferior one that does not protect yourself?
I am not going to the doctors or any hospital until N95 MASKS are accepted as I would like protection from others, which the surgical mask cannot do. I will not argue about it with them I will simply state the case and walk out.

Are hospitals and GPs actually telling people to remove N95 masks?
As SCIENCE indicates, you could put a surgical mask over the other one.

FTR, the vents on N95 / P2 masks are really easy to block. A strip of tape on the inside or a cotton wool ball in the outside (or both) completely closes the valve.

Some have, I don’t know how effective the second mask going over the first mask would be, the fit would be an issue?
If double masks were designed for dual wear that fitted then that would be a better option.

CDC: 2 Face Masks Protect Better Than One
En español | With the discovery of new, faster-spreading coronavirus strains in the U.S, it might be time to double down on face masks — literally — by wearing two at a time. Layering a cloth mask over a disposable medical procedure mask significantly boosts your protection against the coronavirus by ensuring a tighter fit against your face, a new study from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows.

Another observation. Geelong hospital is asking people who are patients or visitors to wear visitor stickers, being pedantic there is a difference between patients and visitors. People wearing Patient stickers would cleanly is visible from Visitor stickers. There is also a waiting queue at Geelong hospital as people are being asking for their name and phone number upon arrival.
Why cant this change to a Photo ID access card with name and phone number of the card?

Or a thumbprint ID or voice ID ?
The trouble with covid19 and thumbprint scanners is they have to be cleaned for each scan unless a non contact one can be made, this is not a problem with eye scanner or voice ID.

apparently it’s the same.. so the actions done by the fireys should be more protective than the gear they wear…
I guess for the average person wearing a mask while they do their shopping, distancing would be a pretty good line of defence, washing hands before/after/ during (if you need to) and not touching your face… and then masks in case you walk through someones sneeze.. Dear CN, that figure is absolute an utter bullshit.
An N95 mask with vent protects others from you far better than both surgical masks and home made masks.
surgical masks and home made masks have huge side holes through which the virus can escape. They only stop about 2/3 of the viruses escaping. The vents in N95 masks are smaller, so offer more protection to others, not less.
The problem with no vents is back pressure – back pressure makes breathing more difficult, which poses numerous other problems, particularly for those with compromised lung capacity.

17. Can have multiple filters.

19. Stain proof.
20. Has close proximity tech, activated by voice or button that has name and phone and number for hospital access instead of carrying a card.
21. Both the mask itself and the filters have separate wash me now indicators.
22. A wash me now reminder added to the close proximity chip.
23. A face scanner could store 3D face data and create a mask to the users exact measurements, no more problem with mask fit.
24. Replaceable elastic straps.
25 A COVID XX detector built-in to the close proximity chip
26 With a COVID detector built into a chip, it should also be designed to accept updates for new variants that are not in range of what’s in the database. Also any that’s new or not in the database can be detected and sent as an alert.
It would make sense to put Covid detectors in a RF chip in reusable masks, that way would allow easy detection.

Ok.
About 30 years ago I fancied the idea of a large clock striking on bells to go at the corner of the staircase. In the junk box was a Westminster movement with five chime hammers, one of them lifted independently of the others for the hour strike. There was enough room for a longer barrel which could operate all five hammers. I made a case with a two foot octagonal dial and suitable hands then purchased a set of five diatonically tuned bells together with a sixth one tuned an octave lower.
As a tower-bell ringer I thought of making the clock perform a sequence of possible changes concluding with a descending scale so I made a new barrel to drive the hammers, also a new cam as Westminster wants sections of 1, 2, 3 ,4 and I required 1, 2, 2, 5. Using as an example the scale of C the sequences are:
DCFEG
DFCGEFDGCE
FGDECGFEDC
DCFEG DFCGEFDGCE FGDECGFEDC
Two pairs switch between each sequence of five notes.
The movement was fixed to the back of the dial with bolts.

27 The detector in your mask can sent an alert to your smartphone, which you can forward it onto your doctor or get your phone to.
28 Early detection devices, means early recovery, which also means less virus transmission opportunity,.
29 Short press to mute RF chip , long press to turn off chip.
30 RX and TX privacy options can be fully programmable by time, specific places, other conditions.
31 Material could be transparent or opaque, come with or without LED lights, come with or without rear proximity alarm.
32 Long life battery for RF chip, separate battery for other features. Still be light for all day use.

Only new in the sense that they prices have dropped over the years. however signals are not available everywhere which limits their use to those countries which have the radio signals.

If you need atomic time from the internet.
It shows/outputs the correct time using wifi from a remote atomic time server on the internet.
However….
Making a transition device that outputs the digital time signal and convert it to an analogue movement would have to be done then another device to interface with the clock mechanism that sets the time, or build the two into one device?
Ive never made one.

If you need atomic time from the internet. there are several ways
Net Time Keeper and Net Time, both are different.
Nettime keeper is a device that gets atomic time over wifi from a time server on the internet and display the time signal on any monitor
Nettime is a bit of windows code that when run a a computer gets the time from a time server and displays it on the screen.
They both shows/outputs the correct time using wifi from a remote atomic time server on the internet.

But I want to make a digital version using Net Time Keeper or using Net Time and send the signal to other clocks that update themselves.
Its easy to do it with Net Time Keeper just out put it to multiple monitors you could have them in different rooms, kitchen, lounge bedroom.
Net time you would need a bit of extra code to output the time signal over wifi and have wifi clocks that use that.
or get Nettime Keeper and somehow output its signal back over wifi to update other wifi digital clocks.
Or design and make a small wifi device like Net time keeper and send the time signal to WIFI clocks.

NO-ONE SHOULD TOUCH PATIENTS
Just wave at them through the window of their negative pressure room.
Whoops. Can’t feed the shredder and post at the same time.
You should be the perfect person to look after them. You must have finished going through the Merck by now. It’s years…you should have a really overloaded set of antibodies to pretty much every possible combination and permutation of viral DNA/RNA.

At one stage, just a few years back, the ‘therapy’ of passing hands over patients (i.e. about 200mm above them) was ‘recognised’ and practiced in some Qld Health hospitals.
Fortunately, this seems to be discarded now.

If your body’s feelin’ bad
And it’s the only one you have
You want to take away the pain
Go out walkin’ in the rain.
You watch the flowers go to bed,
Ask the man inside your head
Your spirit never has to grieve
All ya got to do’s believe.

Can I put my hands on you?
