Australia has had a space industry at times.

Building Fedsat, Aussat etc.
Designing and building parts of the Curiosity mission.
The spacecraft company Astrium used to have an office in Canberra.
Canberra has a big vacuum chamber for testing things in a spacelike environment.
Last I checked, there were oodles of places in Australia building cubesats.
There is a coordination centre for Earth surveillance images from space.
Electro-optical systems is still going strong with its satellite laser ranging equipment, and more.
Australia has a lot of spacecraft communications technology. At Tidbinbilla and in Adelaide.
Optus runs a fleet of communications satellites.
Sounding rockets fly up from Australia every now and then into the lower reaches of space.
