Subject: The Day the Handle Died

Instead of individual posts to remember fallen forumers, it was decided at some point to have one annual thread. Since April 23 marks the day the old SSSF was switched off, it seems fitting that we remember our forum friends who have passed over to the Great Forum in the Sky.

Raise a glass to:
Geoff D (2013)
Stumpy Seahorse (2018)
Shell aka Artemis (2020)
Richard C (2020)
Curve (2020)

Plus a few others that haven’t been confirmed, like bob (from black rock), Glowie, Argus.

TA DA, nice to see you peeping in again :)

By coincidence, last night I downloaded and saved a few entire months of Chat threads from years when Stumpy and Awesome were still with us, and I’ll get some more in the days ahead. Hopefully there are still some entire Chat threads surviving on Google from Geoff’s era.

It’s like having a time machine so you can go back and mingle with departed friends again.

It’s sort of nice, comforting, to think that there might be someone here that will remember strange things I said once.

I missed the news on pretty much everyone. Is it wrong to ask what happened to each person?

I assume Curve was multiple organ failure. He had just had an unsuccessful operation to install a fistula or suchlike for daily dialysis as his kidneys were basically defunct.

Pretty sure it was non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
