Consider these jetsuits the Royal Navy is trialing.

Imagine a drug bust with flying jet police buzzing around above.
I have considered it.
Seems like a nifty invention, which I am sure will find some niches where it serves a useful purpose. I am not sure about it being used to send troops aboard hostile ships is the ideal niche though.
You’ll believe a man can fly.
Surely if the flight required hand jet thrusters (thereby precluding any other use of the hands while landing) the people on the ship could just push him away with a stick.

I’m thinking it is best for surprise attacks.
My main issue is that it weighs 40 kg. Not exactly going to be ready for combat lugging that around so I assume it must be easy to doff once you land.

Nah, they’re soldiers. Spiral fracture of leg is expected.

Like.
Jet pack technology has progressed very slowly.
There was a jet pack design in the year 1919.
The first prototype built was in 1956, and improved in 1962.
I wonder if they have automatic gyroscopic stabilisation now, like quadcopters.

Morning punters and correctors.
Chelsea is through to the Champions League final and I think their womens team might also be, I know Sam Kerr scored a brace of goals in an important win for them a few days ago.

Saw one of these demonstrated in about 66. They didn’t prove to be a boon to… well.. anything, afaik.

Saw one at the Sydney Royal Easter Show many years ago.
That’s the one.

I suppose progress is slow as you can’t really carry much fuel (them being jet packs) regardless of technology improvement

And you need a reserve to make an emergency landing before the fuel runs out.
That as well
