There’s a scene in Letterkenny where the gang complains about a plan to oil the eggs of geese so they don’t hatch.

I’d not heard of this. It’s called addling and is considered a kind of humane cull. The oil suffocates the chick in the egg. Just taking the eggs would encourage the mother to produce more eggs so this is an effective way of wasting a breeding-age bird’s time.

I just read in New Scientist about that being done for military airports! I forget where, probably UK.
