Just curious… doing a quick survey because I know what state most of you live.
How many months of the year do you spend with the heater on trying to stay warm inside?
How many months of the year with fan or aircon trying to stay cool? (or wishing you had aircon)
How many months of the year are “just right”?
And what is the general state/region?
For me,
4,5,3. Perth metro

Melb.
Melbourne has just a few absolute scorcher days a year. And a few more 25+ degree nights.
I like a climate that gets above 20 C each day and below 20 C each night. Such a climate doesn’t exist in Australia.

I have a cement slab. For six months a year I have no heating or air con and aside for one or two days of high temp everything is great. There’s maybe four months of burning 3 or 4 bits of wood most days. And then there is a couple of months of running the fire around 8 hours a day.

300+ sunny days a year here. Yeah it gets a bit ordinary for a few weeks in summer and again in winter but otherwise it is paradise if you have water.

Nope.
The question was how many months was heating/air-con used, and how many months was perfect weather. They don’t have to add up to 12 months.

It’s all very subjective anyway. As a fat fellow accustomed to a generally cool climate and who prefers cold/cool weather, I’m happy to sit in shirtsleeves in temperatures that would see many other people pulling on jumpers and turning on heating.

I have an injury report. It’s not as drastic as other forummers report. My right hand has swollen up again. Not sure if that is from the archery last night or because yesterday I was guillotining paper for a while. Perhaps I was pushing the handle of the guillotine into the palm of my hand. My right grip is again compromised. A couple of weeks ago I blamed this on too much secateuring of roses. I seem to be developing my mother’s knobbly knuckles.

Similar to me – For some reason the cold doesn’t bother me much – I can take 15° in a t-shirt & shorts no problem. My fingers and nose can start to get numb from the cold, but it doesn’t seem to feel bad enough to do anything about it.

I rarely need the fire on during the day but the nights can go to minus temps & a bit of warmth makes life more pleasant.
The day it was -12° was an all day fire day.

Don’t use the heater, too expensive for the return, wear warm clothes instead, don’t tend to feel the cold that much

Your fonger joints are nowhere near as bad as Mrs rb’s. Her fingers bend sideways. By a lot.
