I don’t think I’m good for any of them without having to look it up.

I am sure once I do the names will be familiar, but right off the top of my head I got nothing.

Discworld readers should be able to do the horseman, including the fifth one, the one who left the group before they became famous.

No, I don’t remember having to do that either. I only remember doing an assignment on Darkie Gardiner, the bushranger, for history at high school. And one on “The Search for a Staple”. We didn’t have computers and word processors in the 1970s. It was all done by hand. And you drew your own pictures too. I’ve still got those in an old suitcase out in the back room. Occasionally I go back and read some of the things I wrote. Some of them aren’t bad, actually.

We had a weekly tables competition in Grade 5. Yes, you had to memorize stuff. For some things it’s a good idea for them to be automatic in your brain.

I remember doing lots of stuff in 1979 about WA history and first fleet stuff, because that year was the 150th anniversary of the founding of the colony. Did very little on the first fleet to land in Sydney until 1988 which was hailed as the Australian bicentennial at the time. Most of my knowledge of Australian history comes from my own readings on the topic outside of school.
