I blame my lack of further reading after a quick google image search. Unforgivable I’m afraid.
Though I plead that I had remembered a similar picture of this little beastie in his brown costume. A recent article on them becoming rare in NSW. I think.

It looks like what I used to call “privet caterpillar”, but strange colour. No, I’m not close enough.
